I think you can get the wide gunnels with out the cap. Looks good. That would be an option I would want. Saw it on 2cool.

You can get the Hanie with a cap like the 2010 Frontier

AND Frontier makes the linered model, the capped model and a rolled edge model.

Big Ridge 07-16-2011 04:27 PM

Dino's boat has what they call a cap. All it has is a wide gunnel that you can store rods under approx 8 inches wide. It is not what you would call full capped boat like some of the other boats on the market.

Tiger260 07-19-2011 08:30 AM

Frontiers are rolled edge hulls, like a Haynie, that have a finished fiberglass cap that covers the decks/gunwales (Change in '11?). Champion, Blackjack, etc. are two piece boats that have a full cap, whereas, the hull is secured to a complete top half of the boat. Hence no rolled edge on the outside, and everything has a nice clean gel coat finish. Haynie's don't have any type of cap. As an option, they will mold a wide "deck" per se along the gunwales b/w the front and rear decks.

JDd 07-27-2011 10:08 PM

There are boat with rolled edges (Kenner VX, Carolina Skiffs, etc.)

Boats with a cap (basically a rolled edge hull with a finished cap)
Hanie offers a cap

and the Frontier 210 & 190

and finally, boats with a full liner (Ranger, Skeeter, etc.)

can you please show a picture of one with a cap? In my 6 months of speccing out my boat with them last year, I don't ever recall them offering one, nor have I ever seen or heard of one with a cap.

cmc 07-28-2011 01:50 PM

Haynie built a few HO's with a top cap in, I think, 2008. It was just a ring cap, like a Majek or older Frontier. It didn't sell very well and to my knowledge is no longer offered. They do know offer a walking gunwale option, with the rod storage rings below. I actually have one in the shop right now with that option, we are rigging. I'll try to get some pics and post them of one with "walking gunwales" and without.

Use to be a pic of one on their website a year or so ago.
I think it was a red hull.

Please post those pics when you get a chance. I like the wider gunnels.

Both are correct, Haynie does not offer a capped boat now, and they have never offered a fully capped/liner boat. You also cannot add freeboard to a Haynie, like you previously stated in another thread ... Thought YOU were the Haynie expert???

Please find where i said you can add freeboard to a haynie...Have a grand you can not find where I said anything like that...

I said Haynie is a custom bay boat..you can build it like you want.....talking about side depth...
