just looked and the law is you are supose to call and report, if it was me and it is a repeat offender it would disappear

If only it was that easy. You need a certain amount of property, must have proof you have rights to alligator hunt it, before you can get a license. Also if said property is not in the area you have permission to hunt and you take an alligator you can get in some serious trouble.

You are supposed to report it to LDWF and they will send a nuisance trapper out to take care of the gator. Personally, I would contact the LDWF and let them know you have children playing in the yard and need it removed. My uncle had 3 in his pond, no children near him, and made the call to LDWF. The trapper was there the next day to remove them.

Been told on the West Fork .......... over 6 foot they catch and relocate or kill , under six foot they relocate and charge you $35. Don't know how true this is, never looked into it

They don't charge anything for a nuisance hunter to come get it.
Most nuisance hunters I know kill it and sell the hides.
If LDWF agents come get it, they might relocate it.

its up to our discretion to kill it or relocate it. normally anything over 6' is killed, skinned to sell the hide. this is how we get paid, not by the state. Under 6' is caught and relocated. We are not paid by the state, So to come remove a gator under 6' we are able to charge up to $30. Considering the fine if you are caught with a gator with no license/tag, $30 is cheap. Call the ldwf and they will contact a nuisance hunter to help you. If you, person, dog is in immediate danger then shoot him, and then call ldwf. with the amount of camera phones nowdays you never know when you might end up doing something wrong and get busted.

He's a nuisance, perfectly legal. They had a 11 or 12 footer in St. Amant in Bayou Francois a couple years ago eating people's dogs and such. About 10 people took shots at it. That sucker was HUGE!

shooting an alligator that you are supposed to notify LDWF about is careless. Posting on a public forum and taking the opinions of 90% of the numskulls on here is stupid! You are doing the right thing by calling.

Not perfectly legal . Explain that to the judge. You need to call your local nuisance trapper
