A little perturbed

So have some dents in my work truck and took it in for an estimate. Took it in to a body shop and he looked at it and told me what needed to happen. He asked if it was gonna be paid for by insurance, I said preferably not. I asked would that really matter. He says 'hell yeah, I am gonna stick it to em". This surely has to have a negative effect on insurance rates I would imagine:eek:

fishinpox 07-24-2011 09:46 AM

That's why my insurance costs me 190/ month for my friggin truck! Screw that SOB

Mediumheavyaction6'6 07-24-2011 09:47 AM

Cue Southern 151 in 3..2...1

southern151 07-24-2011 09:55 AM

Thanks for the intro medheavy! I don't like the guy's attitude where ya went. It gives us all a bad rap. I don't practice "sticking it to" anyone. There is a difference in the way I charge for self pay though. I don't cut too many breaks to an INS co because they don't cut me any. I dang sure don't try to nail either though because that can bite you REAL hard sometimes!
Pox, the biggest reason rates are so high here is because the uninsured rate is near 30%. Thank the slugs who don't pay insurance and ambulance chasing attorneys for the rates! Wanna coNpare notes?...I just got my first quote back for INS on a wrecker...$924/mo!!!

Mediumheavyaction6'6 07-24-2011 09:57 AM

anytime!

He worked at a shop and then branched out on his on, I know many people that do body work and would not do that. Just really rubbed me the wrong way, its the whole 10% thing. 10% of any profession has its share of expletives

LPfishnTIM 07-24-2011 11:13 AM

I pay $116 (full coverage) I'm 25 and drive a 02 f150. National Automotive Ins. is the co. I use they were $60 cheaper a month than Geico. Geico found every reason to charge more for insurance. when I moved to baton rouge they went up because there was a higher percent chance for me getting in a wreck, when I moved back to walker it went up again same reason, I changed Insurance co.

weedeater 07-24-2011 11:20 AM

was always told to stick with State Farm, Allstate or Farm Bearu; I have dealt with others due to wrecks and can tell you most of the rest are jokes

joshdomingue 07-24-2011 11:53 AM

I have State Farm with full cov on my truck and liability on my jeep and a life ins policy $170 a month

I didn't know they could raise your rates from city to city. Judgeing from the way people drive in BR , I can almost understand it. Got to love livin' in 'the sue-me state'. There was a point in time when lawyers were dis-barred for taking on "frivolous" law suits. Now they glamourize them.:pissed: We need tort reform NOW...

adamsfence 07-24-2011 12:28 PM

In these guys defense I would charge different too.....they have too wait along time for there money and also there time fighting with these crooks on the phone cause they want to half *** fix it or don't won't to pay has to be worth something

I thought the same thing, I had statefarm but my insurance agent suggested them because they are primarily on the west coast and were not affected by all the Katrina claims so their rates were lower and no hurricane deductible . They are really big on the west coast. I've met prolly 15-20 other people in LA that use em . So far no problems. I have super high coverages on my auto super high coverages for contents in the homes ect my arse is covered fo sho !!!! Lol

Is it October Yet 07-24-2011 01:27 PM

Few years back when I worked for RSC a ***** in a primer pos camaro cut me off and slammed on the brakes. I tapped the back. Only damage was from my front tow hooks cracked the bumper. No damage to my truck. They get out, see the name on the truck and get back in. Cops come, they claim they are hurt and get carted off in an ambulance 300 yards away to the hospital. Get a call last week they got one of those tv scummbag lawyers and are sueing RSC and myself. Lawyer met with them and they want to settle for 100k. Insurance and lawyers litterally laughed out loud and left. Now I have to go to court in January. Bleepin *****s!!!

PUREBAY2200 07-24-2011 02:03 PM

2 summers ago I was rearended by a company truck, f -450 with a load of drilling pipe on a goose neck behind him..... I was at a stand still on I-12; he hit me full speed at 45-50 mph. I saw him comin n my rearview mirror.... He never looked up for 8-10 seconds..... I was blocked on both sides , so I braced myself. He hit me hard..... Broke my rear window, tore tow package off( my ford was lifted 4 inches) he actually went under my bumber & my bed was on his hood.
I was pushed into the car infront of me & that car hit another.
Cops show up..... Driver who hit mr says that I slammed on my breakes & I cut infront of him.....
Well cop takes his statement ..... But everyone around stated the truth.... & the traffic camera caught it on film.
I was sore for a few days & had brush burn on my neck from the seatbelt, also a big knott on my shin from hittin the emergency brake. Had neck x rays day after & the dr said I had severe whiplash......

On day 4 some attorny called me & explained how he has reviewed my case & wants to represent mr.... Says no fee unless I get paid. Also told me I'm Lookin at 100-150k
He charges 20%

I called my uncle- state farm agent- and told him about this. He said if I felt like I deserve compensation for my injuries then I should sue..... Well I didn't feel that way. Nor did I want to use the system & screw over a local company bc their driver was werckless.

I met with both insurance companies & the local company.

They paid for my truck repair, rental cost & even offered a small settlement.
But I honestly couldn't take the settlement.
In my opinion I was not injured to the point where I needed compensation.
I took2 days off work, had 2 dr bills- also paid by local company- & got my truck back in 12 days.

Compensation in my mind is for those who become disabled as result of ab accident. Can no longer do their job, or were severly injured & were not able to work for an extended period that caused financial difficulty.

Not a sore neck & back.
But that's just me.

Everyone suing makes the rates increase, more claims = higher rates.
Attorneys aren't evil.... They want to help. Most do; buy money blurs thier goals & alters their motives.

Hard to stick the insurance companies since th adjuster has to sign off on his report and repair $ must be justified via computer program. Having said that, yes sticking it to the insurance company cost us all but some folks moral compass doesn't have a true north setting. You can have work done anywhere but the insurance company can always play hardball with you and the Bodyman.

Uninsured or underinsured is over 40% statewide unfortunately. The lowest common denominator folks don't care about anyone but themselves. Have had many sit across my desk and state they don't care if the third party gets compensated after an at fault accident. Many asked for full coverage 10/20/10????? and that's what they bought.
Corey, my phone did not ring. Wreckers be my specialty man, I am a professional wrecker writer

southern151 07-24-2011 04:21 PM

I'll be calling you! Tentative plan at this point. Getting numbers together right now. I'll call ya this week. ;-)

booyagasha 07-24-2011 04:58 PM

keep in mind, sometimes, when the shop says,"they're sticking the insurance company," that could mean they might let you slide with the deductible.
