poll: who's right in this vid?
vid has caused major debat on other boards...is the dude right for exercising his right?or should he have complied with everything th eLEO asked fully? |
Well one thing is for sure, the officer is one hell of a guy and acted using the utmost respect and patience.
|
Awesome video man. Thats what law enforcement is all about. Great cop in my book. He just made sure the guy was stable and not any kind of a threat without being a ***** about it and was fully respectful of the guys rights the whole time.

Why are you asking whos right ??? there was no disagrement between either party??? Cop did his job and the open carry knew his rights and neither infringed on the other.
|
so u can get pulled over and not have to show them a license or give your name? ***
|
That's California. After Rodney king, cops have less rights there
|
thats wild....wish all cops were like him....thas the ones that deserve ya respect..seems to me like the guy gettin pulled over was kinda bein a douche
|
If the camera wasn't on I seriouslydoubt it woulda went down like that. I was asking about how he refused to give his info, given that most of you would consent to a search, would yall have reacted the same?
|
if a cop acts like that i'd cooperate....but then again if it was an ol highschool nerd on a powertrip i'd have a totally different reaction to situation...respect goes both ways
|
I'm not too sure what there is to debate here. One exercised his rights and the other respected them. I think the cop did a good thing by stopping and asking him what he was up to. Just think, that could have been some guy going to film another massacre at a university or something along those lines. Just my .02
|
Good police work right there he obviously understands that we have rights
|
the cop did a great job but I wouldnt have done that. Idk how the heck they just let him walk off without ID'ing himself. Guy could have warrants or felonies and they just let him walk off with a gun. While the cop showed great respect, it would have gone alot different when he the guy started acting cocky and not telling who he was.
|
The camera made the cop nervous obviously. It would have gone differently if there was no camera.
|
EXACTLY...i can pretty much promise you that would have went down alot different off camera.Like i said in a previous thread, if you feel as if you're in danger in any way, video it for your protection. This goes along with consenting to a search. You have rights man, same as this dude understood his rights about not giving his info. (i bet alot of you didnt know that.)
one more question, if and when the next storm passes and there is a state of emergency, if the sheriff ask you for all your munitions and arms would you hand them over just because he asked?they did this during katrina, would you on the next go round? hah this should be interesting!! |
If I had won the lottery last night, I probably wouldn't be going to work tomorrow. Since I didn't, I'll never know how it would have played out.
In short, ya just don't know. Again, what's the debate? Don't like the cops?... Go pick a fight with em and get tazed! Disrespect when you're in the wrong and pulled over for it. It stimulates the economy! Lol! And, what's this munitions after Katrina deal? This is the first I've ever heard of it. |

Abandoned or in posession? Registered to those in posession, if so?

TH ING...read up and do some research but lemme guesss, if that's what they want, that what you'll do? |

It's clear you don't like cops. We get it! Myself, I've never had any trouble with em that I didn't have coming with the exception of troopers.
Now, what is the basis of your assumption that i'd hand over my firearms? I asked some questions about it. That type of thing would neve likely happen where I live and, if it ever does, I'll be sure to let you know how I dealt with it. Kinda the old saying of, "until you're faced with an issue, ya truly don't know how you'll deal with it. |

La doesn't have gun registration, which I'm glad of, but they do keep a record of serial #'s of stolen guns. this guy was walking down the road, people probably complained because they seen the gun and the cops just went out to investigate to see if everything was alright. No body did anything wrong, but if that cop tried taking his gun and he wasn't intoxicated or doing anything illegal that cop would get his @$ $ HANDED TO HIM IN COURT!

ping ping pow
never saw this vid, or really even actually googled it, but i do remember it happend, and alot of people were big big mad |
YEAH, I watched this video, read some of the book the New Orleans gun grabb, I know what happened the cops were in the wrong, but believe me any cop who takes a citizens gun illegally is a coward, most cops will tell you, you don't want gun registration and if the gov. ever tries to take your guns don't give em up even when marshall law is declared.
This debate, which really isn't a debate, is getting pointless everyone know they have rights, everyone knows that there is some cops that don't follow the laws they enforce, but there is some good cops out there, you need to get over the few bad cop stories that you have heard half the story of, and just live a little! this crap doesn't matter unless it is actually happening right now! which I doubt it is anywhere around here! |
Makes my blood boil everytime I see it.......

and yes, you are right, it happened elsewhere, and not to any of us personally. But i think the more informed and educated you are, the more likely you can prevent it from happening to you. |
Neither is wrong!Props to the cop for handling that like a professional public servant. The man complied with the officer to let him see the weapon and "legally" he didnt have to do that.If you are not under suspision of a crime you cannot be detained, questioned, etc. You simply ask if you are and when they say no you can walk away.

this is what it all boils down to they act decent to me i will give my full cooperation |
Piss on all of em!! They are not worried about our rights as citizens. They are here to protect and serve.....they protect each other and serve us with BS!!! The day they try and take my guns on MY property for no reason will be the day blood is spilled on my lawn!!!
