Sig Sauer

Thinking about buying a Sig Sauer either 220 or 226 (same thing just one is made better and more expensive) or a 229 which is what Secret Service uses. Anyone have a Sig and have any pros or cons?

SULPHITE 08-01-2011 10:22 PM

got a sig pro 2340 I think?? Polymer frame...solid gun. Not sure about accuracy just mainly for home protection and shooting everynow and then.

LaAngler 08-01-2011 10:48 PM

Hopedale Hustler 08-01-2011 10:51 PM

A turd looks better than glock...but yes it will shoot

iron man 08-01-2011 11:08 PM

lol. I don't want a new gun. It seems that the older ones are better manufactured and pride is taken in making them. Would like a 9mm as its cheaper.

longcast 08-01-2011 11:17 PM

1911 45. That's all you need.

simplepeddler 08-01-2011 11:17 PM

Sig is a solid weapon.
I continue to go with the Springfield 1911, both in 45 and 9MM in home defense.
I picked up this weekend a Sig 1911 22LR man that this is sweet.

My carry arm is the Sig P238 I really like the mini 1911 feel.

Not a fan of Glock at all, but that is purely because of my superficial, shallow opinion on how the look.

But hey, fat chicks need lovin too right?

The Browning Hi-power is also a solid home protection weapon.

heck..........guess what I'm saying is.........I like em all.

LPfishnTIM 08-01-2011 11:25 PM

sig parts are expensive extra mags are too, nothing wrong with a 1911, its been a proven weapon for a 100 years! springfield is a good choice, xd xdm or 1911. I personally like gock, but the xdm has a better barrel and trigger but weighs a little more.

Dink 08-02-2011 07:02 AM

The XD is a nice machine!! Smooth, but if your a limp wrist, it will jam on you. You want a nice gun that is super smooth and very very proven? Beretta 92

Dink 08-02-2011 07:03 AM

Forgot to mention......its right up your alley. Was military issue for decades.

This is my plan exactly

mcjaredsandwich 08-02-2011 07:26 AM

At least i can run my glock through a dishwasher and expect it to fire afterwards. Got a .40. Really want one of those kimber 1911s though!

Why would you put your handgun in a dishwasher? That's not the way they should be cleaned.... Just sayin.

EVO

mcjaredsandwich 08-02-2011 07:39 AM

Oh. Iron man told me to clean it like that.

BigChaf 08-02-2011 07:53 AM

The 9mm is for people who squat to pee, 45 ACP , you only have to hit them once.

M4TT 08-02-2011 08:42 AM

My brother has a Kimber 1911 45 ACP. It is freaking sweet. Shoots really well too.

1911s have a great trigger but get heavy in your waistband all day long, not to mention a 7 round mag :(

thats the only thing I don't like about 1911 is the low mag cap. But its single stack mag so.

If you need more than 8 rounds your in a bind anyway. You would need a ak47. Lol. Seriously the 45 acp will drop a man cold in his track.

I like the .45 acp, when you pull the trigger & I can see daylight through the hole, makes me all giddy inside :)

Dink 08-02-2011 09:41 AM

Just go 44 mag and be done with it

The officer shot the individual four times in the chest; then, his weapon malfunctioned. The offender continued to walk toward the officer. After the officer cleared his weapon, he fired again and struck the subject in the chest. Only then did the offender drop the knife. This individual was hit five times with 230-grain, .45-caliber hollow-point ammunition and never fell to the ground. The offender later stated, “The wounds felt like bee stings."

The officer must not have been a very good shot. Shot a man 5 times with a 45 and the guy was still alive. Put one in his dome and it's all over.

booyagasha 08-02-2011 10:33 AM

get the glock 30, with the 10 round ..you can't beat it....baby glock sized, and ten .45 rounds..perfect size, perfect weight

BigChaf 08-02-2011 12:15 PM

I have a Springfield Armory XD Tactical .45 and the standard clip holds 13 rounds, and a little device with a red dot that shows that .45 jacketed hollow point just where to go without using the sights, sweeeeeet.

I have the same gun, no laser tho. The most accurate handgun I've ever touched

weedeater 08-02-2011 12:58 PM

I know y'all talkin about high dollar guns and all but I have a Kel Tec PF 9 that is designed for carry and is the size of most .380 pistols. This gun has a clip that mounts to the gun and will fit in your pocket or your waist band and hides very easy, it also will handle the Plus P rounds and it shoots great and it is a no frills, no safety point and click and you get them new under $300.

If you want a 'purty' gun do not get the Glock. However, if you want one that never jams get a GLOCK. I have the Glock 22 (40cal) and I love it.

That is one I am actually looking at getting. Either that or a 23.

Call Cabela's, mine was an exchange from the the Nebraska State Police. They got in like 8 that day and were gone. Luck for me, I just happen to go that day. Seems about every year or so they swap out for new glocks. Well I got mine for $ 360 with the protective holster and two clips and case. Looks like new. I have passed at least 300 rounds thru it so far. The only have the 22's since this is what they carry. My older brother is an Alexandria city cop (15 plus years) and they all carry the Glock 22. According to him, they 'GLOCKS' are the best on the market!

Glocks are very reliable. My dad has gotten the new generations when the come out as he is an officer. Havent talked to him much about the gen 4 but he was excited to get them. He carries the 22 and says he likes the way the new one fits in his hand. I own a glock 22 gen 3, which is a hand-me-down from my father. I have shot the .45 glock and it feels bulky in my hand. Glocks are reliable!

That being said, they definitely aren't the easiest on the eyes. But what does that matter? Id rather be alive holding an ugly gun than to be dead with the best looking handgun on the market. Its all shooter preference! Most big city police are required to carry glocks, mainly the model 22, along with a tactical 870 in the patrol car and a ar15 in the trunk, but that is optional. You better bet my dad rolls loaded out!

Wouldn't catch me with this gun ever. Aboriginese call em throw away guns. 200$ brand new.

FF_T_Warren 08-02-2011 08:34 PM

i have a 23 and shot it side by side with the 22 on several occasions and as far as accuracy goes I cant tell a difference. the 22 is obviously bigger with a longer barrel but I didnt notice any accuracy improvement. I prefer the 23. smaller, not quite as bulky and shoots great. just dont get the 23c cuz its loud as crap and if you have to shoot at night your sight is gone after the first shot because the flash.

that tactical 45xd is an awesome gun, it didn't win handgun of the year a few years back just because it could hold 14 rds! that match grade barrel is unbeatable!

They don't make a good holster for them. Heavy and ugly. It does actually shoot straight though.
