BEST Jig Head Poll!!

Ok we have had a few threads on jig heads now here is a poll vote on your favorite jig head i would like to see what everyone uses brand, weight, and reasons why.
Just curious as to what everyone else is using!
1) Marshworks
2) YellowMouth (Micahs Jig Heads)
3) Norton
4) Hogies
5) H&H

huntin fool 08-05-2011 10:08 PM

Marshworks hands down..Used straight swamp busters until I found MarshWorks and never looked back. Holds bait well, and have yet to have a hook break on me as I have with Gamakatsu, Swamp Buster, etc. Hints why I rep Marshworks and no other company. I dare you to put them to the test. I got a 12 footer out in front of the house if you want to try them. And I like the fact when MarshWorks SAYS something, they get it done.

Customer Service is the #1 thing with me.

jlincecum 08-05-2011 10:08 PM

#2 for obvious reasons. Very strong hooks and holds plastic great. Have had zero issues so far.

SaltyShaw 08-05-2011 10:10 PM

Rules of this thread...

JUST VOTE AND LEAVE GOOD COMPLIMENTS NO BAD MOUTHING AS SOME OF THESE ARE SPONSORS HERE.

I think its a good topic. We can post a haynie vs the world thread and topwater threads but why can't we post a jighead thread

Another vote for marsh works. I will vote when I get to s computer. They are all I throw as they have proven themself as quality tackle.

sent from Droid, the iPhone killer.

Shawn Braquet 08-05-2011 10:28 PM

I need to get rid of my H&Hs so i can try the marsh works i guess

ckinchen 08-05-2011 10:36 PM

Guys, we have several sponsors on this site and jig builders so let's please not bash any products. Feel free to cast your vote or leave general comments in here about what you like about a certain product but let’s not comment negatively about any of the choices or we will have to delete the thread.

SaltyShaw 08-05-2011 10:38 PM

Please do not litter this thread with any kind of bashing, just like Josh said pick one and leave your comment and it will be a very good topic and helpful as long as its kept under control with no nonsense thanks

SaltyShaw 08-05-2011 10:39 PM

Thanks Chicken

I think we've had more rule post than we do votes, there for I felt the need to make this post stating the obvious, and to bump it up

trophytroutman 08-05-2011 11:31 PM

Those reminders were a good idea considering where this thread could be headed. With all the manufacturing interests on this site concering this subject.....feelings could have gotten hurt.

You are correct good sir.

Micah 08-05-2011 11:42 PM

Can't vote cause I'm on my phone but I'm definitely gonna try some yellowmouths. I haven't fished enough this year to remember what I use the most.....prolly H&H.

I use norton alot but bought 50 yellowmouths a month ago, been using them and the yellowmouth hold the plastic on much better I like the nortons but hate how after 2 fish it slices the head of the bait

What size are y'all throwing I have been using 1/8oz sometimes 1/4 oz

JDd 08-07-2011 08:48 PM

Im not to sure if micah has any places in laffayette setup but if you PM him he can get you set up in the right direction to go to scoop some up.

As for marshworks i dont know if i have ever seen their jig heads in stores just their soft plastics might have to order offline

LPfishnTIM 08-07-2011 10:05 PM

I often buy mine in from bowies or superior tackle in baton rouge, I buy 20 or more at a time, I'm not sure what kind they are but they are probably H&H, which they have came out with a nicer looking jighead, but I normally get a normal lead ball type jighead. I have a few packs of Marshworks jig heads and some of there bayou thumper spinnerbaits that I use when I'm fishing in hopedale. I use the cheaper ones in lake P or anytime I'm getting hung up a lot.

Marshworks are the tits bud. PM Marshworks on the site. You can buy in bulk through him. His soft plastics are in academy, but no lead heads or popping corks.

Thanks for the info shaw and fool

mikedatiger 08-08-2011 06:15 PM

I will have a select quantity available at the tournament.

For those of you coming in town, they are available at The Tackle Box, LCT, and Cajun Fast Mart.

I am a fan of the Yellow Mouth jigheads. Hold the plastic on better than any other with a top quality hook! Would love some 1/16th oz.

I use Nortons..but havent used the others to say anything about them

bjhooper82 08-16-2011 07:42 PM

Tried yellowmouth for the first time this weekend. Got them at LCT. They are pretty bad arse. Hold the plastic very good and the hooks are very strong. Didn't vote yet though because I would like to try a few others.

Ray 08-27-2011 04:14 PM

I got free samples from both Marshworks and Micah when I got some of their merchandise.
Never used them till yesterday.
Marshworks looks better, but the ones with the screw on the shank held soft plastics on the hook a lot better.
The hook I got with the Jerk Jr's. caught almost 25 or so fish before the Sand Eel started to fall off. The Marshworks worked real good also, but did not hold the lure on quite as long as the one with the screw.
The regular cheap unpainted ones only held the lures for a few bites, then the lure kept slipping down on the hook on almost every cast.
Went to LCT today, but was closed. Went to Academy and found some Norton jig heads with the screws on the shank. Gonna give them a try.
Hate to spend that kinda money on jig heads, but they work too good to not spend the money on them.

mikedatiger 08-28-2011 09:40 AM

Ray, those hooks I donated for the tourney with the Jerk Jr's were Reaction Strike Flats Lok jig heads. We didn't donate any of our YellowMouth jig heads this year but will do so next time. YM Jig heads Unpainted are 5 for $3.25 at Tbox and LCT.

SaltyShaw 08-28-2011 12:21 PM

I'm not a fan of the screw type nortons what so ever, good luck with them
