Is 115hp. Enough
I'm looking to buy bay boat BTW 19-21. How does a 115hp push 19ft fiberglass bay boat with 2 maybe 3 people.
If I go with the 21ft Definitely getting 150hp or more. But I see a that a lot of 19ft boats have 115hp on the back. Thanks sent from my HTC Inspire |

Longcast has an 1810 nautic with a 90 4 stroke, saltyshaw has a 18 or 19ft bluewave with a 90 4 stroke. Both seem to get where you wanna go.

Always best to put the max hp on any boat. You will have a better holeshot and fuel economy when the motor does not have to strain.

Blazer bay rolled Hull 18ft boat is rated for 175 Max HP. Its a light, unfinished hull. To me a 115 on a finished boat would be to low
|
How much you looking to spend PM me my boat is fur sale
|
True. But I may buy used, just wondering if I go that route. 19 with 115
Actually how good/bad is the fuel consumption on a 19ft. With 115 full tank and 2 people if someone has numbers. sent from my HTC Inspire |
That's to small I have a 17ft predator/115 most likely ill be getting 21-22 being that my option r open. 19 would be settling

I have a 19' Sea Pro w/Merc 115 4-stroke and it runs 41mph @ WOT but the hole shot is not what i would like.
|
I'd def put the max size that the boat is rated for....no two brand boats way the same so I wouldn't go off of what other people have....you won't regret goin with a lil bigger motor
|
Thanks for the info. I have a 17ft predator it does the job. 112 johnson. 30 gallon tank. But don't like the v in the front its to small. It will be up for sale soon!
I like the boats with the deep v nauticstar, blazer 2170 etc. sent from my HTC Inspire |

I just want to make a smart decision on this nx purchase. Don't want to buy have to sell in the nx 5 years. Plan on the boat having this nx boat longer 5 years.

19 foot baystealth bayboat with yammi 115 gets 40 WOT. Usually cruise around 32-33.

I have a 1910 nautic star with a 115 opti and yeah it does its job just fine, but if I would have a choice I would definitely get a 150 not to mention at least a 21ft boat. 19 is just to short for when the waves start to build.
We run about 37 tops with a light chop, 3 guys, 49 gallons, and fish box full of ice and icechest under leaning post full of ice. If it wasn't for the chop we'd probably do around 34-35. Fastest I ever got the boat was 42mph, chop, two guys 1/4 tank of gas and no fishing equipment |
i have a 1810 nautic star with a 115 yamaha 4 stroke. i had 4 adults and a full tank of gas (35 gallons) trimed all the way up and got 42mph out of it. with just me and the wife and a full tank of gas i get 46. always put the max hp. its worth the extra coins!!
|
i have a 18' 6" bluewave with a 90 and it pushes me fine. im not gonna break a speed record but not gonna break my wallet towing or using it either. i can get around 40 in it on a good day. i would say depending on the boat whether its enough

Always get the Max HP.....I've never heard anyone say "man, I wish I could go slower" especially when a storm iscoming up on you

18-19 ft. bay boats run great with 200's on them. always over power with in moderation. "Its always better to have more horsepower then balls" said my late Grandpa!

We've got a 15 ft Robicheaux air boat with 502/ 550hp big block in it, and at 38-4200 it will make a grown man **** his britches, but at 52-5400 the freeker lays down and flat gets it! Intelligent? NO! Fun? Unbeliveable!lol

Take a look at the yamaha website. Its some times hard to draw a conclusion, but by comparing the closest boats possible i came up with this. The old model Nautic Star, the 1900 weighs about 150#s more than the current 1910 model. It is also appx 10" narrower.
1900 w/4s 150 ............1910 w/4s 115 5.37mpg@ 22mph .........5.2mpg @ 20mph 5.2 @ 34 ...........................4.6 @ 35 4.39 @ 44 .........................3.9 @ 43wot 3.4 @ 53.6wot If I were going to run around at the boats peak point of effiiciency it really wouldnt make a difference. But like most I want to be going at least 35 - 40 mph. These numbers make me think that the boat will be most economical with the larger engine. In actuality, it will probably be a bit better than these numbers since the 1910s weigh less and is narrower. It may not play out for all boats but for this one it did. I would get the max size engine. Gator |
