Well fellas I did it again. It was a fine day on the water. Caught 28 specks, 2 sand trout, 2 reds & a flounder. Not a bad day @ all.

Not sure what picture you are looking at, but I don't see a telephone pole one. Looks like the East side of the Jetties to me. If you see something I don't, please point it out. BD |
That bull red was caught on the west side of the jetties on a live croaker on bottom with a 3 oz weight. The smaller red was caught & grand bayou weirs. All the trout were caught in W's secret spot that I am not allowed to tell anyone about! (reef in moss lake *hint hint)

Sorry, wasn't up to date on the lingo on here. But, I hope he wasn't offshore and caught that redfish. Lots of trouble getting caught with that 3 miles out or more.....Game wardens ask no questions, just ink flying. Nice trout, too. BD |

Nope, I was @ the jetties. I already got 1 ticket this summer @ grand bayou weirs! :( I wonder how much it is going to cost me? Federal Violation: Fishing in closed area? Anyone know how much it's gonna be?
|
Excuse my ignorance..

Another law that might be good to know right now for any guys headed offshore:

I bet that ticket is high as hell!
|
?
i dont know but i dont want to find out.ouch.unless your that capt from the otherside with the 909 snaper out of season and i think 240 under the minimun.:pissed:
|
I'm nervous about this damn ticket @ the weirs! I was told that a red snapper ticket was much higher.
|
Quote:
might have miss read..But you was in the "do not enter past this spot" area? That sucks.. |
OK, I assumed you knew......
Quote:
OK, sorry. I thought someone would have told you. NEVER, EVER keep a redifish 3 miles outside the beach in LA, or a drum for that matter. |
Good ol wiers......oh boy

Not to offend JSmoke, but I wish MORE people would get the A$$ caught behind those signs. If I had a game warden on speed dial and I knew he was close, I would DEFINITELY be calling him to burn that person. READ the signs!!! They have been there for the past 3 years. :pissed: |
no sign
there is no sighn at the first weir from heberts.can yoou tie up to the weir.seen lots of people do it.
|
You are right longcast!! That is owned and operated by Miami Corp. Grand and Lambert are operated by Cameron Prairie NWR. The next weir south, Mangrove Bayou, is the same, owned by Miami. NOtice behind the wiers how you can't fish but maybe a half mile north of Grand. Cameron Prairie is bordered by Miami to the north and east, and private landowners to the south and west.
|
thanks
i ahve fished behind the weirs in some other peoples boat, but mine is brand new and to scared to put it through grand.any other way to go back there besides grand
|
Nope....that is the only place to get back in the marsh.
Yes, it is a little tricky when there is a good current. When you get the boat lined up straight.....give it the gas and get through there quick. When the water is moving good.....that is the best fishing. Fishing outside Grand Bayou you will loose lots of tackle. Inside is not quite as bad. Two of us, caught about 20 reds there Friday. |
Quote:
Negative. Also, a tidbit of info. The teflon "bumper" to the north of the gate between Grand and Lambert is gone. That would be a real no-no on a new boat. Hammered the reds back there in the marsh 3 days in a row with the high tide. |
nice haul
|
I'm headed back out right now. I'll post a report when I return.
|
Good luck Jsmoke
