My boss bought an 18 ft kenner with a 125Merc Salt Water Series, 2006 I think. Rig is like new condition, very low hours, for $ 8000.00. For a 2001 $ 6000.00 is a reasonable price. Check compression hot and cold. Check all cylinders make copression is equal at all. Check lower unit oil for water and metal. If oil looks new question it. Make sure it does not have any bearing loosness. Grap prop and shake up & down and side to side. Make sure motor idles good. Bad idle sometimes means you have bad or uneven compression. Run motor with dog ears until it gets warmed up. Shut down, look at prop exhaust make sure there is no oil running out. If oil is there could mean piston ring blow buy. If motor is premix ( I think it is oil injected ) may be mixed too heavy. Good luck...
