Time to get the Steel Shot ready......My feather friends are here:D

Red Devil 08-25-2009 09:34 AM

Don't look like my ponds gonna have any water unless we get a ton of rain between now and then.

Jordan 08-25-2009 09:37 AM

I'll trade wood duck hunt for a teal hunt, i got everything... except a place to hunt...

Finfeatherfur 08-25-2009 09:39 AM

"W" - I had 40 yesterday in Pine Island! - Looking good, just crossing my fingers the weather holds out!

This is by far my favorite time of the year, blasting quick limits of teal, eating some breakfast then hitting the water for some specks! Blast & Cast baby!!!!!!!!

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-25-2009 09:40 AM

we had more teal saturday than i saw all of last season as well as mallards, tree ducks and black mallards

"W" 08-25-2009 09:43 AM

Have about 8000 in our area right now......Flooding up second crop!!! Loaded.....We never have any problem with teal!!! Always limit on them....

SULPHITE 08-25-2009 10:07 AM

Sweet anyone else seeing some numbers???

They have a group of around 300 hanging out across the gully on the next property that they are second cropping. Our pump is busted, so I need alot of rain to get them on my side.

cmdrost 08-25-2009 10:36 AM

ripinlips 08-25-2009 11:11 AM

We are seeing real good numbers...but our fields are flooded for the second harvest. Just passed the fields a couple times lately and there were teal everywhere...even saw some unknown big ducks. We seen a bunch of woodies to. Cannot wait to see what happens...New gun should be here this week. Man if not for school starting this would be the best time of the year....who am I kidding it is the best time. Happy blast and cast very soon.......

I hunt at the Illinois Plant next to Laccasine. Yeah I'll be at the Banquet on Thursday. The Bank has a table. You going?

Also....W.

All I shoot during teal season is my over & under 20 gauge. All you need for dem little tings. I think you may be over compensating for something...:rotfl:

Bought a case of them at Academy the other day for $60. Not bad, even shot two boxes at some skeet.

redspeck82 08-25-2009 04:29 PM

YEa i like to shoot them at skeets to faster than lead. The Academy doesnt have them in Lake Charles sucks!

redspeck82 08-25-2009 04:43 PM

I bet yall see alot of birds on the Illinois Plant!?

Trent Buxton 08-25-2009 05:20 PM

Im here at the gibbstown bridge near creole and the last two mornings have had PLENTY of teal flying around the marsh at day break.

B-Stealth 08-25-2009 05:28 PM

Banquet

I got the almighty Hall Pass today.

I'll be @ the Banquet with my bells on.

I plan on speaking duck by the end of it, usally turns out that way.

W, I'm glad your stimulating the economy slinging all that steal, more power to you.

"Cheers to you Mr. 3 1/2, when 2 3/4" are adequate you skoff at them and unleash all 3 1/2 inches of your fury"

cajunman7925 08-25-2009 05:54 PM

Too bad all 3 1/2 gives you is a few extra bb's and a bigger dent in your pocket book. I use 3'' #3 shot don't hunt teal season

huntin fool 08-25-2009 06:09 PM

some of yall sound jealous that waltrip can shoot 3 1/2's and yall can't handle the recoil

:*****::*****::*****::*****::*****: Seriously..yall are going to start whinning about what he shoots!??!!?!?

Trent Buxton 08-25-2009 06:16 PM

W has an advantage over most of us shooting 3 1/2". He is lower center of gravity thus the recoil has got to be easier on him way down there.

specktator 08-25-2009 06:18 PM

my buddy shoots a bps 10 gauge year round even at teal!

I dont pay for shells....... My dad has a guy who supplys him cases of shells Free......He takes them to Mexico dove hunting every year.... I shot all I want free so I take them 3 1/2 unless I run low thats the only time I buy shells

Red Devil 08-25-2009 06:46 PM

After doing alot of research on line about 3 inch and 3 1/2 inch, the conclusion is that for the money, your best bet if you choose to go 3 1/2 is a 10 gauge. Hands down. The 3 1/2 was originally desgined for turkey loads until someone got a bright idea that took off like wild fire. Besides, I've hunted with a guy for years now that shoots a rem 1100 12 ga with 2 3/4 that mows the geese down. Someone on this post had it right thoug, all you get is extra BB's and less power. But W, if you shot a 10ga, all we would see is the soles of your feet.LMAO

B-Stealth 08-25-2009 07:12 PM

More Cowbell

Ohh you can get more powder with the 3 1/2, but it will cost you.

Deadly D 08-25-2009 07:17 PM
