Hunting waders
 

Looking to buy a new pair of waders before the season and wanted some opinions on different brands. I am leaning towards Lacrosse but their sizing is jacked up.

cabelas.com has their own brand. Quite comfortable and very warm.

got these puppies on sale, half neoprene half dry plus...nice and comfy...

If you buy anything other than cabelas brand you are crazy. The warranty their footwear for life! I burnt a hole in mine last year and brought them to the store and exchanged them for a brand new pair. No knocking the quality of any other waders but you will never hav to buy waders again.

I'm hunting in breathables this year... Still unsure if I'm gonna make it through the whole season with them cause I don't know how cold I'm gonna get. If I buy some neoprenes they gonna be Cabela's though

Neoprene is a huge PITA to put on. I got some at academy, I just layer up underneath them. Don't remember the brand. Had some drake, they didn't last 3 trips!

Lacrosse Swampfox are the most comfortable breathables in my opinion. Went through 2 pair of Cabelas breathables last year.

I just bought some game winner from academy and they bury lacrosse in fit and comfort. Now idk about cabelas fit but I love the fit of these and they half the price

I love the dry plus breathables but they don't last for poo...i've got patches and shoo goo all over mine...actually got them to stop leaking...

I did see the gamewinners at Academy and tried them on, they fit good just wasn't sure about the quality. I was thinking about Cabelas just not sure how they will fit and don't really feel like driving to Gonzales.

I've had them all my current ones from macks prarie wings are the best I've seen. The cabelas pair that I had made one year and came up with 2 holes in the boot and they would not cover it. Make sure it says lifetime on the box if you go with theirs.

Bob, the waders I had on when we hunted were the magellan mag 2 and have been the best pair of waders I have ever owned neoprene or breathable. Under Armor/fleece pants are all I needed all but one or two days last season and we don't have blinds. Make sure you don't scrimp on the boots though, get the simms boots without felt sole and your good to go. We'll look like Twins in the marsh.;)

That's the ones I've got I need to go ahead and get the Simms boots though cause the ones I got don't quite fit right. I bought some Hodgman boots because they were on sale at Academy

Just like anything else,you get what you pay for. Everyone at our camp make fun of me for spending the money on under armor. They won't be laughing when they freezing their tail off and im nice and toasty.

My Cabela's 5mm neoprene waders have held up great for years. I hunt brackish water marsh so not many sticks and branches to deal with. Don't think neoprene would fair too well in thick flooded timber though. No problems for me other than are hot in warmer weather and as others have said somewhat of a pain in the arse to put on.

I used to not believe in the under armor craze either until I tried it, that stuff is amazing

Breatheables is where it's at. I will never ever don another pair of neoprenes as long as I live.

Man i got the Mag II waders as well i have been wondering what liner pants to get, and what are these simms boots?

Yeah dude it is da bomb....I have a fleece jacket and I all I wear under it is a regular long sleeve shirt. Used it last year when it got in the teens and I never got cold.

I got Hodgeman neoprene with the boot ,Columbia breathables with the footy & Magellan mag2 with the footy.
Got Hodgeman neoprene zip-up shoes.

When it's real cold I'll wear the Hodgeman.

Late winter / early spring I wear the breathables.

Im talking about wade fishing.

If I'm duck hunting always wearing the Hodgeman, more durable, not gonna tear/ rip. Keeps me warmer and more comfy.

I wear under armour cold gear top & bottom.

I got a drake half zip that I stack ontop.

anybody have any experience with the Drake Fleece jackets or Fleece liner pants?

Hard to beat fleece when it gets real cold,I have tried everything and it is the best hands down.

yeh im looking for something fleece just curious of everyones experiences are with diff brands i have been looking at Drake and Under Armor just dont know what to get

I need to get a new pair. Ones I have leaked and have bicycle patches all over em...thinking about game winners

I have the Drake 4 in 1. Very warm and convertible. I love all my Drake clothes but I'm also gonna try some Under Armour this season.

The best waders for louisiana are from orvis. They are breathable, as comforable as a pair of jeans, and you doesn't restrict your movement in and out of the blind like neoprene would. On the rare cold mornings, I wear the drake jean cut wader pant that is fleeced lined.
