It was a buck that was being raised at a game preserve in lake charles that got out. Check out river road white tail on facebook. A true monster regardless!

That's crazy. Never heard of that place. Sucks for them, I'm sure that deer was worth at least $10k.

Red Devil 11-29-2011 02:48 PM

Looks like it was in someones backyard with all that well groomed st. augustine.

Prolly more than that,I looked at some ranches that charge up to 30k for a buck like that. Insane! To me it's not a true trophy unless it was killed in the wild.

Yea, I agree. Can u imagine stickin that thing and finding out later that it was a tame fenced breeder

1fastmerc 11-29-2011 02:55 PM

I know of a place in the Bluff area that has or had Rocky Mountain elk, big whitetail and some sheep. That maybe where this came from.

:) Corn fed and a LOT of meat right there.

There is a high fence around Monroe and one side of the fence near the interstate has been down for 3 years due to some type of policy (have to ask IronMan the legality but anyay) and there have been some BRUISERS killed on a local NWR that is 1/2 mile from it. Think they can all be traced back but a couple have been in the La Sportsman and several entered in contests:smokin:

Black Bayou NWR right in town there (bowhunting only), but the deer have come from right on the edges of there. One area is a no hunting zone and its a big WRP thicket and the adjacent landowner hunts the edge of it. His property is ag, and he shoots the deer coming out the refuge. Killed a 200 + this year. Was likely at night though knowing him;)

R Sage always has some good deer come out of there though.

Gunna have to check that out....The only time I hunt public is during bow season.

Red Devil 11-29-2011 06:02 PM

Any idea on how old that deer was when he escaped during Rita? That would make that an old fella, since Rita was 6 yrs ago. Not sure something that big would have roamed around that long without being spotted.

GMCD 11-29-2011 06:41 PM

Could not have been to long, there is a trail cam photo on 10/23/2011, on Riverroad Whitetails facebook page, that looks like it could be him. Has the same forward kicker off the lower right main beam. There is several photo's on there that look to be him.

Red Devil 11-29-2011 06:55 PM

Thanks. Unfortunatley my company has facebook blocked and I cannot check it out myself.:pissed:

It was on the news tonight. It was the River Road Ranch buck that escaped. Owner said that he never knew it was even out. It was killed several miles from his high fence ranch. He said that it swam the Calc river and headed west.

meaux fishing 11-29-2011 09:13 PM

sounds like it was pretty wild to me if she hunted it for three weeks... I dont know much about that tree lounging though. It is a monster of a deer regardless

weedeater 11-29-2011 09:47 PM

I know this came out of a high fence but what all of the "real deer hunters" of Louisiana don't think about is that all them big bucks killed in NE Louisiana on the Fed and State land is due to deer like this, they brought deer in up there to breed and build bucks many yrs ago and that's a big reason they have them up there so just think what some of these deer could do down here if they were allowed to breed.

Id have to say around the 20k area..A company took my dad last year and it was 12k for a 211 1/2'' buck on the Boscow Lodge..This monster would have deff. brought in some dollars...Id bet they have insurance on it too..

2ndamendment 11-30-2011 05:10 PM

You would have to assume that big boy got a chance to spred his genes to a few does during those few weeks. Might be a few nice bucks in that area in several years.
