Black Panther sighting

St.Tammany Parish Sheriffs Dept. has confirmed pics of a black panther in Covington,La! Ive seen them in this area several times and nobody ever believed it and most argue theres no such thing as a big black cat in America at all! It was on the news 10 minutes ago if anybody wants to chk it out.
Anybody else see any before?

"W" 11-30-2011 06:24 PM

This lol. People will do anything to try to get in the news. There is no such thing as a black panther lol. Was Bigfoot taking the pic?? Lol they should inform people bout his existence too!

southern151 11-30-2011 09:50 PM

If that's a panther, I'm Bill Gates!

youmyboyblue 11-30-2011 10:01 PM

Ok, I have never been one to believe all this panther jazz, HOWEVER I know 2 of the workers who saw this and believe them. My office building is across the street from where it was spotted. They actually saw it yesterday and today. Same guy is going in the AM with a Video camera. I didn't see it(only bad pics) but tend to believe these guys.

southern151 11-30-2011 10:16 PM

The pic from the link above screams good zoom and average cat. That's just an opinion, I must add!

youmyboyblue 11-30-2011 10:38 PM

Again, pics i saw are in no way no doubters.

Dink 11-30-2011 10:40 PM

Corey, come by tomorrow.. My puter is broke and I need some money

In other words, that's a big black panther!!!

iron man 12-01-2011 03:29 AM

Yup

Top Dawg 12-01-2011 07:43 AM

If in any case it's a big black cat it's probably someones black jaguar that got out.

Lake Chuck Duck 12-01-2011 08:06 AM

I used to work with a guy from Reeves who said they had one in their barn one night. Not sayin fact, just sayin I heard it.

baychamp 12-01-2011 08:19 AM

I really don't understand the sarcasm from all the skeptics concerning panthers. They have been roaming around Amite County, Miss. for at least 25 years that I know of. Ask any wildlife agent in that area. I watched one for an entire season (85/86). She would bring her litter of cubs to a beaver pond every morning to drink and then slip away. By the way , the fine back then was about $25K for killing or harming one...

BIRD DOG 12-01-2011 08:53 AM

wonder what the fine is now for shootin one? either way If I get a shot its dead so I have proof!

Duck Butter 12-01-2011 09:10 AM

There are several CONFIRMED published sightings of cougars in Louisiana.

None of which have been black.

Looks like a black house cat to me. IF it is NOT a house cat, it is an escapee.

Anyone wanna bet some salty cash on it?:D

I would NOT shoot one, but if you do you better have some claw or teeth marks in you:smokin:

That would be correct. No sightings of 'black' ones...

evidrine 12-01-2011 09:20 AM

My dad and uncles have seen them around the bayous near where they grew up in Palmetto. I also have two buddys that have seen them once back around Praire Ronde. I myself cant claim to have seen them, but I have seen trail cam pics.

Are you talking about black ones. Cuz I think there are just as many "confirmed" sightings of big foot. I think we all know there are cougars in Louisiana. But never ever anywhere on this continent has there been a confirmed picture of a black cougar. I don't think there is such thing. A girl I went to school with had a pet jaguar and it was black. But not a cougar.

evidrine 12-01-2011 09:22 AM

This one deff looks like a house cat though.

Nope, no black ones. Only at the zoo:*****:

baychamp 12-01-2011 09:40 AM

cajunsorc 12-01-2011 10:08 AM

Last year there was an article in the Lake Charles American Press about a wildlife agent that responded to a call of one that had attacked a horse at someones home in GrandLake. They had pictures of the horse and several accounts of the incident by the owners of the horse and the wildlife agent.

Not sure if the same one or not, but someone called about livestock that was killed by a 'wildcat' and the story went to the newspaper and everyone was bashing LDWF for not doing a thorough investigation. The head of the Wildlife Department wrote the newpaper a letter saying there was absolutely no need for an investigatio because the pictures told the entire story. The cow or horse got tangled up in barbed wire and it bled to death once it freed itself. The headlines were something like 'wildcat on the loose'!:smokin:

I 100% believe in cougars in Louisiana no doubt.

Whenever someone tells me of a panther sighting, I listen, however, as soon as anyone mentions a BLACK panther it completely discredits the story:)

evidrine 12-01-2011 10:44 AM

Well, I will take the word of my own father and uncles any day of the week.

Are we talking BLACK panthers or just panthers?

evidrine 12-01-2011 10:51 AM

I was told "black", so thats what I tend to believe.

If you can produce a trail cam pic of a black panther in Louisiana, then there is no argument, I bet all my salty cash you can't though

some people claim to see pink dolphins, so:grinpimp:

I have never seen a black panther or a cougar in the wild, but i still don't rule out the possibility of a black panther being out there.

Lake Chuck Duck 12-01-2011 11:39 AM

I think they got em. Actually I never realized that it was more myth than fact until I read this today. I have always heard stories of them and accepted a long time ago that they exist in Louisiana.

Where's your deer lease, Mozambique?

cajunsorc 12-01-2011 11:59 AM

There also was one that was in a neighborhood in bossier city a few years ago that wildlife agents and bossier police responded to. As the wildlife agent tried to shoot it with a tranquilizer it ran down the tree it was in and the police officer shot and killed it.
