Wadin Big Lake

I really like jumping in the water to catch them sow trout! It really doesnt make since having a perfectly dry warm boat and getting in cold a s s water but I like it anybody else? Im thinking of getting a couple of buddies together to make a wade trip with Capt Bruce. Check out his website and take a look at his nice pics at www.tidelinechartersllc.com. Whats yalls take on wadefishing?

SaltyShaw 12-03-2011 07:28 PM

I love jumpin in! Thats just me, i plan on doin ALOT of it this winter

mcjaredsandwich 12-03-2011 07:28 PM

I went this morning...no fish but love the solace of being in the water

"W" 12-03-2011 07:32 PM

Biggest trout ever caught in big lake... In a boat

I will catch everything a wader will catch but more because I cover ten times the ground.... I'm not one to fish all day for one 8lbs trout.... Give me 7 over 4lbs and ill take it all day..... My next trout will have to be over 9lbs to go on the wall

SaltyShaw 12-03-2011 07:35 PM

My personal best has come out of a boat as well . . . . . . still fun to wade

Hell yeah as soon as I can figure out what's wrong with the motor. Finals are about to start so this past week has been brutal for me and the wife. Might just bring it back to Yamaha and say fix it. Its still under warranty. Man I love to jump in the water.

SaltyShaw 12-03-2011 09:22 PM

Ill give you a holler when i get home Paul we will go make a wade trip or 2

Not on your first trip after getting back in! I'm getting tired of showing you all of the spots "NOT" to fish. ;) Maybe the second or third trip, but not the first trip! :p

There's a pretty good shot that your "next" trout won't be "over 9 lbs".

Hey guys, I enjoy fishing out of the boat, just like everyone on SaltyCajun. I also enjoy getting in the water with them. There is a time and place for it all. You ever try to work birds while wading. It will get you in shape or kill you !!!

You do have a greater chance at better numbers out of your boat. Jeremy is dead on about that. An angler can also catch a big trout out of a boat.

But there is just something I like about walking on the lake floor, discovering a oyster hump or a slightly deeper gut or drop off that will hold a big trout on a later date. I also recognize if its mud or sand bottom. The colder water, the softer the bottom is required, to down right muddy bog, if its freezing. The mud is killing me ! Our big one of today. Tagged and released. She is a true toad !!!
Man I can not wait til morning...

trophytroutman 12-03-2011 10:23 PM

Aint nuthin better than wading for them big girls.

I'll drop y'all off.

Man Bruce,I love to wade. Probably one of the first to wade Big Lake. Can't do it with my freaking back problems anymore.

"W" 12-04-2011 05:17 PM

One thing I can tell you about wading ..... its not easy walking if you hit muddy spots, your feet cramp up, if you fall your wet and waders are full, you better have patince, remember someone has to walk back for the boat, so don't fish a mile and then look back at the boat...(that sucks)....if you don't know where the fish are you could waist a lot of time walking and looking....

Consider time wasted as knowledge gained. Never know till you hop out. I know a couple areas now that will sink quick..found areas where I have sunk a foot onto the mud. I aint hoing back there.

I wear the same ones. Will probably get some breathables this spring

mcjaredsandwich 12-04-2011 06:28 PM

I have gamewinner camo ones, neoprene. I know a lot of people shy away from neoprene, I dont mind them. Plus, may be able to use them to hunt if I get the chance.

Why do they shy away from neoprene?

Cold, wear pants/leggings

Warm, shorts, or none (teal season)

mcjaredsandwich 12-04-2011 06:37 PM

I wore some athletic basketball shorts yesterday, wish I had worn thicker socks. Toes were a little cold
