The Shrimp

6 Attachment(s)
RS has unveiled a new The Shrimp bait which we will be offering in 2012. These baits are impregnated with Bio Edge shrimp scent and feature glass rattles - they smell, move, and sound like a real shrimp.

We're trying to narrow down color selection to 4 colors, and need your help. Tell us what colors you like below out of: 1. Glow Chartreuse, 2. Clear Chartreuse, 3. Gold/Glow Chartreuse, 4. Rootbeer Gold, 5. Ghost, 6. Two Penny.

Me and Tightline11 kicked azz on an Opening Night/Chartruese color and Glow/Chartruese.
Of the ones shown above, I'd pick #1, #3 and #6.
Them Shrimp lures are where it's at when the Shrimp start moving out the marshes.
I like the idea of adding the rattlers. Not sure if the scent will help or not.
We seen a few good days where we caught 30 in an hour and a half, with no scent or rattler.

Garfish 12-16-2011 08:53 AM

Lookin good!!
I'll have to get some. Awesome under a Cajun Thunder fo sho.

I'm kinda partial to number 3 myself!

Ray 12-16-2011 03:32 PM

DOA makes one close to the #3.

I would go with scented and unscented.
Some folks believe in scents, some don't.
I bought TKO instead of DOA cause of the cost.
DOA is twice the price, don't catch no more than TKO.
TKO had the Blue Moon(Opening Night) color, which I like.
Opening Night has been betty betty guud to Ray this year.

mikedatiger 12-16-2011 06:51 PM

Ray, we're going to see if they can make the Blue Moon color...

Ray 12-16-2011 07:51 PM

Thanks. That is a great in the Fall and in clear water.
Also, is the hook gonna have an upper barb to help keep the Shrimp from slipping down the shank?
Sold in 3 packs?
Is there going to be a rigged and ready set up with popping cork, leader and shrimp?

Ray 12-16-2011 07:57 PM

Just checked. 28 days of fishing in the last 3 months with artificial shrimp under a popping cork. Only 2 of them days we had to change to other lures to get our limits.
When the fish were deep, we had to change to lead heads and soft plastics.
All of these days were between I-10 and Moss Lake except for 2 days in Turners.

I don't fish near as much as most of you on here but when shopping for tackle I am quicker to grab the pre rigged set ups with cork, leader, and bait.

I know a lot of people who do that.
Only bad thing about the TKO rig is the leader is crap.
Supposed to be 25 lb. fluro., but it don't last long. Dink Trout cut it with their teefs.
I rig mine with 20 lb. Berkley fluro., and it never breaks/cuts.
I quit buying the TKO rigs cause of that.

Popping corks required in Rays boat... :grinpimp:

Gonna be just like Fishing Tom when I get big.
I want 14 rods sticking up, all with bright yellow popping corks.

Caught some nice trout in the Galveston and Surfside surf this Summer on the Blue Moon w/ Chartreuse tail TKO under a cork and w/o a cork. I also use the 20lb fluoro leader and the price is nice for the TKO.

ALMOST....;)

I got the samples in the mail and they are awesome. One more question - what size is most appealing, 3.5" or 4"?

Thanks!

I don't think 1/2" will make much difference. When they's chasing Shrimp, they's eats everything.

I'll take the 3.5" samples and let you know how I like them. ;)

Seriously, I like the 3.5" shrimp.

Jedi Lure Tricks 12-19-2011 01:55 PM

A quarter ounce DOA is three and half inches the half ounce DOA is 4 inches. we sell 10 times as many of the quarters as we do the halves. Same thing with the gulp shrimp, 3" outsells the 4" by a bunch. Just sayin. ;)

Didn't know there was that much weight difference in 1/2".
I'd say 3.5" also then.

well, they put a larger weight in the 1/2oz size DOA. but the actual bait is thicker/wider/ all around from nose to tail. same is true of the 3" & 4" gulp shrimp, just a bigger over-all profile. not much of a weight diff between the 3" & 4" gulp.

speaking strictly from a sales point of view, the 3" outsells the 4" atleast 10-1.

on a personal level, i've always caught better on the 3".
