1/18/12 joes cove
 

Got off of work around 3 or so and decided with the beautiful weather Id venture out to W's trout hole in JOES COVE to see if the HAWGS were there...Well arrived to boiling water with trout and only found one trout that was hungry on the second cast...Thought she was a red but turned out to be this trout that will be hanging on the wall...Last year I released an 8.3lb trout, said if I ever bust the 8lb mark again Im hanging her,,,Well today was the day...she right at the 8.5 mark...weighed her in the boat but was so excited I didnt get a good read...Got home and bogga d her and went at the 8.5lb mark....Only caught one fish and she was caught on a RAPALA X RAP..My favorite....well enough of the jibberish here she is:

Casey no they were not...they were all ralled up when I called and told em I was on the way home with a big one...LOL...I sport these shirts all over the water.....

Joe's Cove is a secret cove that only a rare few from the Lake Charles area know. For years these fisherman have kept the location of this hog's heaven all to themselves, to the point that well paying sports from Lafayette can't even get the local guides on Big Lake to divulge this secret spot!
Roy, the above, for the most part, is strictly BS but I really doubt anyone will give you an exact spot on the Lake where this fish was caught and rightfully so. Take your boat to BL, launch at CP landing, start fishing, head south looking for green water and bait fish. Work leeward and if possible and not too rough ,windward sides of the lake.

BTW, without a doubt, this is the best forum for any outdoor info on SW LA. Great group of sportsmen here...enjoy. Glad to see another central LA guy in here.
