They charter and commercial fish so when it's to rough to take trips out they commercial fish , pretty sure it was yesterday or early this morning regardless I know they have been out for a few days

fishinpox 01-26-2012 06:37 PM

Get with pox. May be top secret due to problems in la before but, I heard rumor that they would be around here soon...

flounder_smacker 01-26-2012 10:44 PM

big gaff and 5 people pulling it through a tuna door. most big boats have a tuna door on the transom to pull the big ones through.

What are tuna tubes?

those white pipes in the last pic. they have a nozzle on the bottom hooked to a big live well pump. when you catch small blackfin tuna stick them in there head first. blackfin are a good marlin bait. cant keep them in a regular livewell because they need a lot of oxygen to stay alive and the nozzle forces it through their gills.

southern151 01-26-2012 10:56 PM

Thank you sir! Not very fluent in offshore fishing.

Seriously? No way its that high. I have heard blue fin tuna is very expensive but 300 k?!? Hard to believe...

fishinpox 01-26-2012 11:15 PM

Only if it meets a certain grade which in gulf waters is very hard to meet with the warmer water . Those prices are mainly from Atlantic caught BFT

fishinpox 01-26-2012 11:15 PM

If anyone wants to make a 36-48 hr trip with these guys pm me for details

flounder_smacker 01-26-2012 11:19 PM

Depends on who they sold it to. Not uncommon for blue fin to go for 800 to 1000 a.pound. someone comes and grades the meat to see what its worth. Gulf blues don't usually go as high as others but I.wouldn't doubt they got 200k for.that fish.

fishinpox 01-26-2012 11:21 PM

I'll call tomorrow n see what they got for it

When we goin hooker?!

fishinpox 01-26-2012 11:31 PM

In a few weeks we are tryin to set something up . Most likely it will be a last min thing when someone cancels

Big Kahunaz 01-27-2012 12:51 AM

They have a probe called a sashibo they stick through the side of the fish to see if the meat is burnt. Usually if you exhaust a fish fighting it...the meat will be considered burnt and of lesser quality....you can tell by comparing color of meat variation from prob vs a cut from the tail

Dink 01-27-2012 07:24 AM

Yea, my boy had to release that one in the pic...it was over 800lbs!

fishinpox 02-02-2012 07:49 PM

1.5 hours to land tge fish on rod n reel! Pretty fast is u ask me, didn't sell it . When I went with these guys they were pulling in YFT in the 100-120 # class in 5 min! Freaks of nature! Cranking on the reel with one hand and pulling in line with the other hand!

Keith_Stone 02-02-2012 08:41 PM

Dats a lot of starkist !!!
