New Layout Blind

Well what do you guys think, have you used one in the past? I can't believe we have to wait until September for Teal season. :pissed::pissed::pissed::pissed:
It seems nice, blocks the wind and is comfortable. I bought 4 (2 adult and 2 youth). |
Those look nice. Never really hunted where one would be useful but they work well from what I hear. September is a long way off...
Lol your so hooked now.
Used a layout blind once to take pics. Never hunted from one. |
i love mine. got an GHG ground force and 2 Cabelas layouts. first thing to do is make a bucket of mud and rub the entire thing down with it. itll take the glare off them.

My uncle Hunts from those... He likes em

I love hunting geese out of them. You get up close and personal. You just brush them up when you get there and put them in the decoy spread. That's what worked for us.
I wouldn't use a layout blind during teal season. Unless your goose hunting you will probably not use it. It's good if your getting mallards and pintails and other ducks you can work good and have an idea where they will be when you shoot. If your hunting ducks in a rice field, usually you have a mixed bag with a good bit of teal and spoons. Not something you wanna hunt out of a layout for
Me and my pudnahs got some final approaches to goose hunt with. I love em and they are so comfortable when da geese ain't flying u can nap! Beware though, they are tough to get used to shooting out of. May wanna practice shooting out of one. And also remember that you need to get the birds in tight in a layout cuz when you shoot they are flaring already. I leave mine put together. But like someone already said. Get some mud and get that glare off and the grass with the grass you will be hiding in.

Man Casey, you have the worst case of duck fever I've ever seen!!!
That duck fever gonna kill him in the off season ....lol
Seems like more situps than I'd care to try.......
Wouldnt hunt teal in it. You'll never see them comin they will be crappin on you all day.
I got one this year from Rogers for about 90 dollars and love it. Have killed geese on every hunt so far this season using it. Really like being portable and can even carry decoys in it. I will be hunting more geese next year with it.
Looks like a nice device to take a nap in, I personally prefer the buried blind in a rice field.

It gets expensive in a hurry!
Next you'll be buying pirogues and mud motors
Casey, You may want to look into a the a neotub for it if you will be hunting in water. You can hunt in 8 inches of water with the neotub. I have an Avery and I know they make neotubs for all of their models. You may not need it if you hunt only dry fields but in muddy or fields with water they are awesome to have. Not cheap though like $100.
You need to bring your little boy Teal hunting in Thornwell next year. We are usually covered up. |
I do admire the enthusiasm, very refreshing!!!!!!
Look good casey! Never hunted out of one
As we get older tey funnest toys always get more expensive.

I have had an Avery blind for six years now. I bought the neotub to go with it. I can hunt in 10 inches of water. I like the portablity idea. If you hunt the refuges you need to be mobile. If you take the time to set up a make shift blind and the birds are flying a different route you are stuck. I set up right at the waters edge and get great kill shots. It is really neat to swing those doors open and see the ducks react. Got that OH SH** reaction. I also like it because if I find a field the birds are in and there is no blinds I can set it up and hunt with the owners permission. I hunted a field once which had grass all over in the pond. It was rather big and the birds only wanted to be in the middle. So I set up my blind in the middle of the pond and placed dekes all around me. The birds had no clue I was there til they heard the boom. First thing to do is mud the blind as instructed and leave it to dry a couple days. What I did next was I went to Hobby lobby and bought 8 or 9 packs of that straw people us to make Holloween scare crows. If you want you can dye it in a color which matches you area. I then just loop knotted it all over the blind using the area you slid grass through. It gave me something to work with in an instant and if I needed more to dress the blind I would just add to it from the field. It did not add any weight and I could still fold it. If you have anymore questions hit me up!

Here is a couple pics of the possibilities you can do to your blind. Good luck!
Here's a pic of us last weekend, in the layouts, I would recommend grassing wit just the vegetation you're gonna be in.
