Top Dawg 02-27-2012 09:37 PM

I would've if I was rich. For now the old weldbuilt will have to suffice.

PaulMyers 02-27-2012 09:40 PM

Looks good on the back of any boat! Congrats!

I hope to be getting 1 in the next few weeks.

I haven't seen Stevey for her to tell me about it yet, but thanks.

Gotcha. Know where one is at...

Asterisk-Rich 02-27-2012 09:53 PM

Once upon a time i filled a 40 horse tohatsu with red diesel and ran it all the way from cal point to west cove and back pushing a floating crane and a boat...and it ran the whole time. Those Tohatsu's are some beasts!!!!!!

Top Dawg 02-27-2012 10:04 PM

I cranked it in the drive way and to my surprise it sounded more like a sewing machine than an outboard motor. Didn't rattle windows on the next block like my old merc 40 did.

All Tohatsu makes the 40 in now is the 4 stroke I believe.

Spunt Drag 02-27-2012 11:17 PM

I think they are one of the last, if not the last, to still make a short shaft 2 stroke..... I maybe wrong but it would be first time ever;)

PaulMyers 02-27-2012 11:28 PM

You Sir and Spunt Drag are correct. I just looked on their website. It is in fact a 2-stroke. :o

STELLY 02-28-2012 07:36 AM

Tohatsu

What size weldbuilt do you have it on? I am looking into getting one soon and was just curious how quick it was and what kind of fuel consumption it has....

Top Dawg 02-28-2012 07:49 AM

16/48. I haven't even put it in the water yet. But I will post up the number once it's broke in and run it. But from what I heard they do pretty good.

STELLY 02-28-2012 09:03 AM

I have a 15/52 so it ought to roll pretty good..

They said they ran one on a 15/52 edge and with a 17p prop they ran 54mph. But lost it with a load. Put a 14p powertech and runs low to mid 40's. With a fishing load.

STELLY 02-28-2012 10:02 AM

That would be great. I had a 25hp tohatsu 4 stroke and I could get 30mph by myself but it would die with a load.
