Holy **** that was rough!

Rode out to the islands from cocodrie this morning. Slick seas when we left , fished for a few hours and in the blink of an eye the absolute worst conditions I've ever been in on a bay boat! True 5-6' seas not the "dude my boat runs 99mph in 3' chop seas" but real 5 fters. Took more than I can count over the bow , was in ankle+ deep water for the hour it took us to make it in from 7-8 miles Offshore . Not bragging but very thankful! Some guys in a 18' aluminum boat left 5 min before us but they were headed toward Dularge n we were headed toward coco, I hope tgey made it in ok. Definitely scary being in between waves n only seeing a wall of water crashing over the bow ... Oh yeah BTW we had 3-4 really nice trout

Yes but very few it was an exploratory trip to see if any big spring trout moved out there yet. But the ones we did catch were in the 2-5 lb range

Hopedale Hustler 03-09-2012 02:54 PM

Shoulda been in the triton I woulda felt better in a triton myself over a sea pro anyways

You must be referring to a Cape Horn with those confident words of wisdom!

Man I tell u what either way I still woulda been skurd! It would have been nice to have that 2 ft in length also , but tat sea pro handled business !

Slidellkid 03-09-2012 03:49 PM

Sea Pro has a good reputation for handling rough water.

simplepeddler 03-09-2012 05:02 PM

Glad you made it back in Pox..........in any boat.
Having to time weather is never a good position to find your self in.

calcutta37 03-09-2012 05:07 PM

Water was absolutely beautiful behind the island ...at least it was prior to all the wind
