Anyone know how big these fish are? My postage scale only goes to 5 pounds.

rustyb 05-06-2012 07:55 PM

one is 29 inches, and the other is 27. They are both over 5 for sure. Biggest Ive ever caught, and my sons was a little smaller.

Gulf water is cooler below ..so trout produce more slims when they are in cooler waters

rustyb 05-06-2012 08:28 PM

Thanks, that explains it. they were caught deep on the bottom.

Texas Tiger 05-06-2012 08:29 PM

Very nice trout

jgannard 05-06-2012 08:38 PM

I think the big ones made there way in the gulf.

Nice pics and fish!

You asked about weight..........
If you caught them in TX, 13 pounds easy, they have some nice broad shoulders on them

This was a trip will not forget, thanks for the report. Is he going to mount his fish? I agree with salty over 8 and under 9. Awesome fish.

DUCKGOGETTER 05-08-2012 03:04 PM

A couple of pigs!

rustyb 05-08-2012 05:13 PM

I didnt mount it cuz I didnt think they were that big. I fish offshore mostly and was guessing at the size. After I measured em and found out the possible weight I was bummed, but he will always remember how fun that was. My screw up. And everyone is reminding me of it. If we were in the star tournament that could have been nice. But that is the luck i have!

shellman 05-08-2012 05:22 PM
