The beach tomorrow?

Anyone knows what the water looks like on the beach? Is it worth the trip tomorrow? Ray or Raymond, y'all seem to know the best days to hit the beach, what y'all think?

Big Kahunaz 05-08-2012 09:02 AM

Water was sea green and clear clear yesterday at the ferry. I'll be down that way in the next 2 hours for an updated report. Water at beach should look purty decent

YellowMouth7 05-08-2012 09:17 AM

Man I wish I could go :-(

Good luck Nick.

Your having some real strong tides right now...don't see where It would be good water along the beach...usually strong tides muddy the water good along the beach

Your moving almost 3ft per tide

80% chance of rain on Sat but we all know that is just a guess by the weather goons. Forecast for this week and into next week has plenty of north wind but at 15-20 mph. Hopefully it will lay a bit so we can smack them. My truck will look like Jed Clampet heading south so pass with care.

Sounds like the close rigs are producing too and I'd take any calm day on the gulf over a day on big lake

How tall are ya?

Gerald 05-08-2012 03:27 PM

Donnie..... how is the grass [sea weed] out in the beach water?

Last summer it seemed like there was always lots of grass floating in the water making it hard to fish.

If the water does get "good"...... who is up to "Car Pool" down to the beach?

jbert22 05-08-2012 03:34 PM

6 ft

Jus walk in from the road and start slinging rubber. Normally, the trouts will hang on one side of the rocks, either east or west but not both, occasionally they will be in the gut (middle). When you figure out which side just fish it and move from rock pile to rock pile. If they aren't on the ends, it is a good bet they are infront (gulfside) so you will need to climb on the rocks to fish. Carry a beach towel with you and use it to rock hop without slipping. Those rocks are very slick and have barnicles that cut, wear good shoes and long pants. Rubber will catch 5:1 over live when the water is good so don't worry about soaking bait. Best colors are; margarita,glow/chart,opening night in rubber with 1/4 oz jighead. If you fish the rocks make sure you are using 20-30# flouro leader 6' long. There are plenty of rocks to fish, please find your own and don't crowd those already there. If ya see a red yak and cowboy hat fishing a set of rocks please move on since those trouts are mines.;)

I'm not going post anyone kids on this site but a friend on facebook and his family was at holly beach today......water was muddy muddy muddy muddy

redaddiction 05-08-2012 04:48 PM

It depends on where you go at the beach. The section between holly beach and the first rocks is a mud hole under that water, so any wave action stirs it up. I've seen it muddy there but a little further west and it was clean and clear.

jbert22 05-08-2012 04:52 PM

Thanks for the replies!

Big Kahunaz 05-08-2012 04:54 PM

there is some seaweed coming in .....as far as between the ferry and holly beach....dark stirred up poo....no vis...as far as west of holly beach gray stain but clear...and the further west the greener the water gets closer in. but yes...any south wind between ferry and holly beach is always a chocolate mess

kibb 05-08-2012 06:25 PM

Saturday at Constance, the water was stained turning green towards the end of the day. Sunday it was slightly muddy. Sargassum was thick, thick.

Asterisk-Rich 05-08-2012 06:36 PM

looks like the day to go is Thursday

chasin'tail 05-08-2012 08:04 PM

I'm in JB the beach water was good last week, not that pretty now. But you never know. Although we just had a big TS blow thru. Weather calling for N winds tomorrow. If I pass the beach, I'll post tomorrow.

Yesterday the water was nice. I'm sure Armand will post a report. I think they caught 12 trout and a few reds.
