Get Over It
JMO.....Get over the fact that you are a polite and courtious fisherman and 80% are not....within the last two weeks its nothing but complaint about potlickers, drift cutters, and just a holes on the lake....nothing is gonna change...either quit fishing turners and find another place in the lake or just throw topwaters at em.....not everyone knows what a drift is and what should be done when drifting or bird fishing....read Ws how to fish birds thread....bang boats with em...plenty of little fish under the birds...want bigger fish explore and learn something besides birds....sorry for the rant and rave but doing the samething over and over will GET YOU THE SAME RESULTS.....get out of your comfort zones and have fun...my .02

Now the question is...... how close is too close to move in front of a boat's drift? This kind of depends on how fast the boat is drifting. IMO...... this distance would be 300 to 500 yards using the trolling motor 200+ yards to get into the area. |

You can drift behind someone, same drift pattern, and pick up the same amount of fish as them. |

YES and most of the time i pick up more than who just drifted :D |

500 yds is close to a third of a MILE. i could care less about any boat that far away. Why not just say if i can see you your to close?
I would not think twice about pulling in the right way at 200-250 yds . |

100 yards is plenty room, if you don't cut in front of anyone.
|
To me, if it's on, and crowded, I have trolled to within 75 yards of the crowd and anchor. I set up where I can not cast in their radius of casting distance. Yes, sometimes you can see some looks, but it's better than those trolling yo-yo's that weave in and out of everyone, or are constantly trolling towards the guy thats fighting a fish, regardless of who they cut off.
But basically fishing the hordes is not my idea of fishing. I generally try to find some fish with similiar conditions, but away from the crowds. Fishing is also about the challenge, the game of trying to figure them out...and of course, catching more than anyone else. Most times, anyway it goes was still a fun day for me. |
