Steve German's in Westlake.

Marshland in Lake Charles

bull1134 05-21-2012 11:07 AM

about how much is something like that?

redspeck82 05-21-2012 11:13 AM

Steve German in Westlake they do really good work on trout I have two from there.

inchspinner 05-21-2012 11:33 AM

Marshland taxidermy on kirkman street in lake charles....12$ an inch they did one and currently are finishing another up...both do great work...

jpeff31787 05-21-2012 11:55 AM

I hope you really don't mind the price if you bring it to the Germans. I looked at some of their mounts, and some were good and others...well not so good. I'd look elsewhere.

We are also looking for someone. I think I'm going to bring ours to Mike Landrenaux from Bayou Chicot. He mounted my bass and it came out super awesome, looks like the same fish exactly, but the only bad thing is that it doesn't have a lifetime warranty. Our trout were caught in Vermillion Bay and are very dark tinted unlike most Big Lake trout, which are more white and gray, and so far I haven't seen any mounts were the trout were dark tinted so it makes chosing a taxidermist hard. I wish you goodluck in the search of a taxidermist

Lake Chuck Duck 05-21-2012 11:57 AM

Marshland x100. My bass is the best Ive seen.

davidkyle323 05-21-2012 12:03 PM

Never mounted a fish but Marshland did an awesome job on 2 deer for me and at a great price compared to Germans.

specktator 05-21-2012 12:05 PM

Buddy just got a 7 pounder that he caught with me this February back from taxidermist in Lafayette, Henry Barker. Came out very nice. I will give him a shot on my next one. But I hear German is top notch. Have seen a few of his mounts and they look great.

Rock @ marshlands has done a couple trout for me and I am very happy with the fish. Don't see how they could get any better as long as you preserve the fish properly. Always brought mine in ASAP. Here's the one I have on my phone.
I've seen a lot of trout mounts that'll have a squared belly To me that isn't natural.
Found a pic of one with a squared belly. U can see what I'm talking about

Asterisk-Rich 05-21-2012 01:16 PM

German will be doing my first 8lber fa Sho!

BigChaf 05-21-2012 01:20 PM

Big Kahunaz 05-21-2012 01:26 PM

She is the one that mounts the fish. Rocke just does the paint work.

Taxidermy by sonny

Salty 05-22-2012 10:40 AM

I had my first mount done back in '98. The dude that mounted it still used Plaster of Paris. The job turned out fantastic, but, we literally had to build a wall to hang it on. The fish weighed 9.81 lbs. The mount......about 70. :smokin:

About as good as it gets. Too many mounts don't have the right colors above the lateral line and that just does a trout mount in.

Big Kahunaz 05-22-2012 10:52 AM

Those are some fine mounts. I agree some of the best I've seen. Especially color wise

I know, she does some of the deer too, but it's not her work I don't like, it's her attitude.

Yeah she a little weird. Held me up there one time talking bout some stray dog that she rescued, but then she left the house and her mom next door called the pound and she never went and got it back. I wanted to shoot myself in the face.

"W" 05-22-2012 11:52 AM

You remember the pics? My wife said that was the most enjoyable fish fry she'd ever attended.
