Montauk17 06-04-2012 02:17 PM

Andy C 06-04-2012 02:58 PM

I have two of them (going on 3 year's now)and like them both maybe he was in a good mood when he built mine????

mriguy 06-04-2012 03:02 PM

OCR had a "used" med light Billystix for $75. Told him no thanks, heard too many bad things.

FF_T_Warren 06-04-2012 03:22 PM

He made me a fine lookin rod till it snapped in half. Then I could send him the old and he'd replace it for 175!!! By the time I shipped everything and the headache I coulda just bought a new one straight up. No thanks

swamp snorkler 06-04-2012 03:26 PM

I was wondering what happened to that fella, he aint been around in quite a while

adamsfence 06-04-2012 03:31 PM

SaltyShaw 06-04-2012 03:57 PM

He is making to much money on 2cool now that's why he ain't here.

Montauk17 06-04-2012 04:00 PM

He is not a site sponsor anymore

"W" 06-04-2012 04:06 PM

WE used Speckdaddys for a push pole..

He rubbed me wrong the 1st time when he said he would donate a rod for free on a raffle ....then the winner had to pay over $100 for shipping and other crap he added to a Free Rod(of the winners choice )

So the Free rod cost over $100

yea thats junk there. I mean most of us will drop well over 100 on a rod but there are alot of people that wont even spend close to that for a rod. and to win one and then be expected to pay 100 for it is just junk

Yep I was pissed...I think J.W. won it......When I heard that crap i knew I was done with him..he keep wanting me to buy a rod just to try...
I told him at least...(REAL # of times) 25 times...... make me the lightest 6,10 rod you have and send it for Free...If I like it ill think about buying but that is the only way...

His last bid was $90 bucks and I pay shipping..LOL..Never got a rod

Montauk17 06-04-2012 04:26 PM

Only good thing about it was it was super light weight. Action was more suited for tuna fishing than trout and reds. Told him several times I wanted a medium action. No where close to what I wanted. Not to mention the reel seats he uses are junk and don't hold your reel tight. When I told him about it he said just wedge a some paper under the seat to tighten it up. Guess he does not realize paper falls apart when wet. When I called him about the broken rod he said I will make you a killer deal.....180 to replace the rod. LOL

Big Kahunaz 06-04-2012 04:28 PM

Ha. Billy fell off his hill!

FF_T_Warren 06-04-2012 04:32 PM

if you really think about it, I'm sure people in his area are hip to his quality because all his sales and stuff are off of texas and louisiana fishing sites. nothing on any florida sites. soo why would a "great" rod builder be selling all his rods 3 states away instead of in his own state

No doubt.....will stick to local builders from here on out. Lesson learned

Feesherman 06-04-2012 04:34 PM

I won one in a raffle on here. I had to pay 30 in shipping.

Not everybody. :shaking: Them Stix threads over there used to get hammered til Mont put a stop to it.

Montauk17 06-04-2012 04:44 PM

I talked to Don at OCR and he said the american tackle blanks he uses are junk....very light but brittle.

Country Boy 06-04-2012 08:43 PM

Damn, i taught mines was the only one that broke, 1st one i got and broke it so i called and complained and he sent me another one for free and broke that one too, lol, thats when i gave up and said the hell with it.

LPfishnTIM 06-04-2012 08:54 PM

I thought his rods were a little over done! I want a simple rod, I like the spiral rods, but I don't want a whole lotta thread work and fancy decals all over it, if I want a piece of art, I'll go buy a painting, but my fishing is simple! I got 3 kajun limb rods and I'm happy with them I use them bass fishing only, I got some shimano rods for trout and reds and when they brake it don't cost me a dime to replace em. and thats what I paid for!! but on my kajun limbs I've broke guides and got them replaced and thankfully it was done for free.

Top Dawg 06-04-2012 09:25 PM

I've broke 2 shimanos on hook sets. Bring to shop. Replace for free.

fishinpox 06-04-2012 11:59 PM

gonzalesdave 06-05-2012 07:43 AM

Falcon Caras are the poo!!

Lake Chuck Duck 06-05-2012 08:10 AM

I think it was Jaclyn.renea had won a free "custom" rod in a raffle and he tried to screw her over. Her and Jordan and to tune him up. Something about he was making them choose from what he had rather than getting them what they wanted. Sorry my details are sketchy. Have heard nothing but terrible about that guy.

Feesherman 06-05-2012 08:39 AM

At least with the 30 bucks shipping that I had to pay I got a nice 8 foot length of sewer pipe.

I went to OCR today and was overwhelmed with the different rods and options. The golf split grip was sweet but im not sure they would hold up wading in saltwater. I did get some of their jig heads though..

Do you have any of their rods?

wtretrievers 06-05-2012 07:51 PM

This is the picture that got 3/4 of us banned! I got it twice in 24 hr period! :rotfl: Second time said FOREVER!:grinpimp:

BananaTom 06-07-2012 05:25 PM

I thought about getting one, when he was on here, having contests for one thinking I was missing out. I thought he was over the SC way, but then he bashed me saying he was south west Florida, and I thought is it was strange that he was selling to you guys way over there.

Pretty good scammers

jaclyn.renea 06-13-2012 04:12 PM

Haha... Funny someone should mention this... These are messages sent back and forth from when I won my billy stix...

Billy
I need a number to contact you. Didn't see it on here anywhere.

Jaclyn

did you read where you had won?????
if so then you saw my phone ####
stix

Sorry Billy! I was on my phone and couldn't see the signature. I have it now thought. Expect a call either tonight or tomorrow. Sorry that it has taken so long. It has been one crazy couple of weeks. Jordan was sick. Mom had surgery. Vice president showing up at work. That sorta thing. Again, sorry for taking so long. Thank you for being so patient!
Jaclyn

jaclyn
i checked my rod blank inventory, i do not have a med hvy blank in stock, all that i have is a 7ft med hvy with a full grip, if i were to build you a split grip i would have to order another blank so that i can do it no trig and split grip and i will be happy to do so but i will need to charge you for the materials $40 plus the $30 ship but you are still way ahead of the game because i normally charge xtra for split grips as well.
so for $70 you would be getting a custom billystix that would sell normally for $325 for $70.
now if i don't get your mailing addy i can't go ahead with the building, you are going to have to cooperate with me on this.
stix

Billy,
The 7ft med hvy will the full grip is fine.
For a bait caster.
I would still like to have the orange, white, & silver.
No graphics.
Jaclyn Renea in silver if possible.
I need your address so that I can send the check out to you.
Thanks in advance.
However, I do have to admit that I am a little irritated. When I signed up for the free rod, I didn't think it was going to be this difficult. First, you were rude about me not being able to see your phone number in your signature because I was on my phone. Now, you don't have something in stock and I have to pay extra for it. That isn't a big deal. However, not in any of those post was there any stipulations of what you had or didn't. I don't have a problem paying the $30 for shipping, but I don't think it is fair for me to pay extra for the "free" rod that you said you would make. I am not trying to cause problems or make things any harder on you. I do appreicate the contest and am excited about having my own Billy Stix. I've used them in the past and like I said, they are a great rod! You do amazing work Billy! :]
I hope that you can understand where I am coming from. Maybe next time you need to make things a little clearer so people know what they are signing up for. I wanted to bring this to you first instead of posting a nasty thread about this... I hope that you can respect that and see it for what it is.
Again, thank you in advance and I hope that these problems can be resolved.
Jaclyn Renea

hi jaclyn
first just let me say i owe you an apology
you are totally correct and i stand humbly arss whipped, i guess the only thing i can say in my defense is "i am just totally whipped" i have no other way to say it.
but you my friend have opened my eyes and learned me a new lesson in business ethics and for that i most humbly "thank you" i needed this arss chewinn.
now stand stall i will do what is right toitally and i will get you your rod just as you wanted and you will not have to pay postage either.
it's a lesseon well learned "thank you much"
you are good people.
stix :)

Jordan 06-13-2012 04:26 PM
