New JOB.

While I was on vacation I received a call from a guy I use to work with over at southern pipe and supply. He offered me the outside sales position for the lake Charles branch. Yesterday I meet with him for lunch and go over some numbers. Well I can't turn down a job that is going to double my current salary. I have worked very hard for the past 8 years in hopes of one day getting this opportunity. It finally paid off. My wife is just as happy as I am. Now I have to go buy a new truck. Damn the bad luck since my trailblazer is on its last leg. Anyone sale trucks in the area?

What does this do to school for you?

I'm gonna have to stop going full time. Me and the wife talked and I just can't turn down the money. LCD is correct. I'm gonna have to start paying those loans off and this new job will help. Thanks for all the great comments. I can't wait to start.

T-Bone 06-15-2012 09:57 AM

BTW, I do plan to sponsor this site. I would like to do my part to give back. Thanks to everyone for making this site a success!

I went to meet be Bolton yesterday and test drove the ecoboost. Nice truck just not sold on the v6 idea. Does anyone have a opinion on this new ride. Btw mr Bolton was a very nice guy. Thanks for the help man.

Big Kahunaz 06-16-2012 09:10 AM

i know Hurtem Hatten has one....maybe he can chime in on its performance for ya. He went from an F250--->ecoboost

simplepeddler 06-16-2012 09:14 AM

Keep one thing in mind man, real successful salesman NEVER let the client know that he/she is mega successful.

I have five sales people that work for me, none under six figures, three past 200.
the guy that makes the most, still does not send his clothes to the cleaners, modest truck, modest home, modest boat, but at 33 every damn thing he owns is paid for.

imagine being 31 and have a real nice 250K home paid for.
An entry level F250.....cloth seats, not nav........paid for
a 22 foot Carolina skiff, paid for
wife drives a Yukon (he spurges a little on her, for good reason) paid for
30 foot camper to take him the wife, the three kids out, paid for

college for ALL three kids, done, over, paid for.......

kid is going to retire EXTREMELY well.

When I hired this fine young man, it was for 42K garranteed, in six months he went straight commission and never looked back.

But never forgot where he came from either.

Just a little coaching man, that's all.
I've been building successful teams for 21 years now and those that "remain" are those that realize that one day it's gonna rain

Thanks for the wisdom. I have never bought myself a new vehicle so I'm kinda excited. I really do appreciate the advice. Your sales guy reminds me of me. I live in a modest home that's almost paid for and drive a older trailblazer that's paid for. My boat is also paid off. Man I hate owing the man. I just can't take customers out in that old truck.

simplepeddler 06-16-2012 09:41 AM

sounds like you'll be fine man.
thanks for not thinking I was lecturing you.

the other side of this is, I've worked with guys, in fact one right now, that have made literally over 1.5 million in the last 8 years, and after a gutter trap wife and many other "bad" decisions, and a twist in his account base, he is close to broke.

200 dollar bottles of wine add up quick.

Now he had a great time!

jchief 06-17-2012 10:21 AM

Jason, on the eco boost. Son has a friend that has one and loves it. I think towing capacity is 9,000.

seapro21 06-17-2012 10:42 AM

Congratulations to you and your family!

rosska 06-17-2012 11:53 PM

I have a F-150 4x4 SuperCrew with the Ecoboost. It is my company truck and if I went to buy a personal truck I would not even bother driving anything else. I live in Kemah, TX and pull my Triton 220lts to Calcasieu on a regular basis. I dont know if King let you hammer down on it but if you do it will pin you back.
