Speck Calls - two of the best

1 Attachment(s)
Which do you prefer? I like them both, the riceland seems to take a little less air to blow.

cmcnabb 08-09-2012 08:56 PM

Riceland hands down. Definitely a better call and way better customer service

bgizzle 08-09-2012 09:06 PM

Rice land hands down... Man I wish I woulda bought one a long time ago and stopped messing with that chein caille. Sounds way better and way easier I blow and quicker and smother break over. I wish I could somehow load up a voice memo when I was messing with the RL the other day how easy it was to break a second note sound. Sounding like two different birds I think sounds great.

PaulMyers 08-09-2012 09:09 PM

I could sure use that Riceland.

Top Dawg 08-09-2012 09:11 PM

I like the redbone. But there's no way I can spen that kind of money on a call. I'll stick with my chiene caille. But if your looking to buy one of those I would go with the cheaper of the 2.

meaux fishing 08-09-2012 09:11 PM

Lemme blow em and I'll tell you which one you want...;)

ckinchen 08-09-2012 09:12 PM

I bought an acrylic mallard call from Riceland as well, it sounds great.

The Redbone and Riceland both sound good to me.

Redbone and riceland are very comparable in sound, the best 2 sounding calls on the market. I own both and I have dealt with both owners, and I have to say the riceland is better hands down. Much better customer service and riceland is much easier to blow

I think they are only like 20-30 bucks....may get one since my plans have changed and I may be back to rice field hunting.....on a separate note, I got a duck call "Hayes" at the LAFFY expo a few weeks ago......seems to be really a great call for 50 bucks...

SULPHITE 08-09-2012 09:21 PM

i was looking at hayes the other day...

Micah 08-09-2012 09:37 PM

I'd like to try a Ricelamd one day. I got a Sean Mann speck call right now....pretty good sounding speck call IMO

noodle creek 08-09-2012 09:44 PM

Haha just type in riceland custom calls on youtube and watch the videos, then show me where a chien caille sounds as good.

Good thing for us geese don't watch YouTube lol. When I quit killing with a chiene Ill have to try something new. But until then, my old chiene it is.

Bucoo 08-09-2012 09:47 PM

Got the poly riceland. By far the best speck call for $60 IMO.

10 4 on that. You can still kill birds with a chien caille, but why settle for a call that don't sound near as good. And price ain't an excuse, riceland has a poly that's about the same as a chien caille

Top Dawg 08-09-2012 09:51 PM

I have one that works and don't need another call. That's my excuse.

Top Dawg 08-09-2012 09:52 PM

I bought my chiene for $20 btw

noodle creek 08-09-2012 09:54 PM

i feel you cody. it's still impressive as hell to watch though

noodle creek 08-09-2012 09:59 PM

Watch the video with mike miller in it starting at the 5:40 mark. I'd put it up but not exactly sure how so if someone knows how post it on here.

Top Dawg 08-09-2012 09:59 PM

I hear u man. I love playing with my buddies redbone. I can make that thing sing. And if I had to buy a new call that's probably what it would be. If I started calling competition again I would prolly get one. But just to kill geese my 18 year old call still brings em in. Lol. Don't get me wrong. I think the new calls sound great. But I've never spent more than $20 on any kind of call and those prices are just crazy. I have a fajita meat speck call on order but that's just cuz I want to support the guy that builds em. I just want it to have.

Super Spook 08-09-2012 10:02 PM

I picked up the poly riceland speck call at the LA Outdoor Expo for $45 show special. I'm in love. I might sell my Redbone.

SquatchHunter 08-09-2012 10:35 PM

haydel s81 spek killa

meaux fishing 08-09-2012 11:12 PM

I got an acrylic RNT. Sounds real good but if that riceland is as easy to blow as everybody says I need one

Kenner18 08-10-2012 05:42 AM

Riceland hands down easiest speckcall I have ever blown. I used the Shawn Mann for years but it no where compares to the riceland.

DUCKGOGETTER 08-10-2012 06:20 AM

I've owned a redbone and the customer service sucks i will purchase a riceland before the season.

I almost pulled the trigger on one too. They had some good sounding calls. Those wood duck whistles were super sweet

Duck Butter 08-10-2012 08:15 AM

What does customer service have to do with what call to buy? Keep seeing this come up:confused:

I have had the same $20 Haydel's duck call since high school

cmcnabb 08-10-2012 08:28 AM

Duck calls and speck calls are two different things. If it ain't sounding right, bring it in. They will adjust and file and whetever else is needed. When I went to get both my Ricelands, James tuned them for the way I blow a call. When I got my Redbone, it came tuned for the way Nathan blows and sent a DVD telling you how to learn the way he blows. Don't get me wrong, he can blow a speck call with the best and build them, but I just like the way James runs his business a lot better. Ask anyone who has dealt with James, he is a top notch guy

BigChaf 08-10-2012 08:32 AM

Where do you buy Riceland Spec Calls?

cmcnabb 08-10-2012 08:52 AM

Call James Meyers 528-5293

well when you pay $200 plus dollars for a call, and the guts don't hold up for a whole season. You call them and they say nothing we can do about that, but you can purchase another call and we will ship it to you. Yeah i think customer service does play a part.

bbrown 08-10-2012 09:11 AM

I would go with the Riceland for sure. I recently moved to Lake Charles in January and wanted to purchase and acrylic goose call. I sat with James and blew 20+ calls before deciding on the one that sounded best for me. James has an open door policy and will sit with you and help you learn to blow that call.

I emailed Redbone about a call before I decided on a Riceland and it took over 1.5 months to get a response. I called James and that day I was at his house picking out my call.

With all things being equal, people standing behind their product with great customer service, I choose Riceland.

why are you so against ducks/duck hunters? Did you have a bad experience with a duck or aflac?
