Who does what offshore?
 

I have seen a few threads about salty cajuns working offshore, and thought I would start a thread to see who works offshore on here and different positions you hold. Would be kinda cool to know if another member is currently on the same rig....

I'll start it. I have been with Schlumberger for 7 years now, doing MWD/LWD. I go to school next month to cross over to directional driller. Currently I am on the Maersk Developer for ExxonMobil.

MWD for Halliburton about 4 years. About to swap over to Drilling Optimization with them also

Just started in June as an engineer for Halliburton. In cementing

Subsea Assistant for Seadrill on the West Capricorn. working for BP

Started in 1999 doing maintenance on land at compressor station, then 2.5 yrs drilling on land and offshore. Now work production started off as a roustabout worked up to Lead Operator been holding that spot for last 5 or 6 years. Fly out of Bristow in ICY and work in Vermillion Block.

I used to work for Halliburton on land and inland waters in cementing. Started out in the Lafayette sales office as a BD trainee, then went to work out of the Southpark yard on a cement barge. Had about 4yrs with Halliburton when I got on with Westlake Chemical about 7yrs ago. Halliburton is a good company to work for, alot of good people there.

I work land and inland waters right now. I'm usually in the office at Capitol drive but I go to southpark sometimes. So far I love it

Lead operator for Apache. Been in the oilfield since '94. Drilling, construction and production.

Work for Caldive International the last 61/2 years as a Senior Saturation Technician work all over the gulf, bay of campeche, and africa. I do all the mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic work on diving vessels dealing with saturation diving

Anadrill ?

Nondestructive testing mainly for stone energy and w&t offshore.

I have been in the oil field since 97 I was a production operator for ten years before I swapped over to the Production Chemical side I have been with Baker Pertrolite for the pass 5 years

started out as a diver in '97 for aquatica, got bent/hurt, after that did communications all over the south on land, inland, and offshore till a year ago, started my own IT firm

Area production foreman for century exploration work 7and 7 but try to take off all of duck season.and I'm serious about taking off as much as possible

Work for Shell @ Ursa TLP Deepwater....Mechanic

I work for Oceaneering.......my first 6 years I worked as an ROV Supervisor. Now I work in the Technical Dept and go offshore only when needed and I get to go to alot of rig, boats, etc.

I work supplying all of the rigs and boats that yall go on with the computers and navigation charts. When y'all move we get the call for the electronic charts, paper charts, and pubs. Also we swing compasses aboard the vessels. Just shipped out 284 foreign charts to a new noble drilling vessel. Fun correcting all those things.

I work for ExxonMobil as a senior Global Gaslift Tech. Work 28 and 28 going to a different country every hitch. I'm in the North Sea right now. Head home in morning. Then its off to Alaska next hitch. Have gottten to see places I would of never gotten to see on my own. Some great and a few I hope never to see again. LOL

I was there this past Thursday and Friday removing equipment from a platform that was just brought in from offshore, looks like y'all got a lot of work going on.

Trust me they got plenty of work. We been working there so much might as well park a camper over there. :rolleyes:

Work for southern Natural Gas doing the exact same thing just covering Main pass, South Pass, West Delta, and MC

What's the going rate for welders offshore?

Ohh yea A LOT of work at ACI, just got a jacket in we need to refurbish.

All depends on what you can weld.
We pay somewhere between 21.00 and 24.50 DOE.
Now keep in mind these guys work around 100 hours a week on a 14/7 schedule overtime after 40. All living expenses are covered while you are out there. Your average skilled craftsman offshore will make between 75k and 100k a year working 1/3rd of the year.

I worked with several of yalls guys for 8yrs, not sure who's left but I knew Tommy, Chad, Bart, Bill, Con and Mike

Tommy is the only one, when kinder morgan took over elpaso they sold our aircraft and laid off pilots and mechanics, we now fly phi out of lake charles
