not much to it other than getting smoked in the face with a 1/4 oz lead head.... rared back smoked me in the face then tried to cast... hook was deep!!!! did the old string trick after about 15 minutes of freaking out *****...popped right out. whole face is numb now and swollen. ear pain. felt like i got punched with a hammer.

Oh Lordy!!!!!!! I woulda been fired up. Should have left it in and went to the bar and order a drink like that.

oh and i WAS and still AM FIRED UP!!!!! going ice my face for about an hour!!! SUX!!

This is one of the reasons I favor fishing with bait and trolling. I have four children and the idea of them swinging hooks around the boat every minute or so is frightening. I'll let 'em cast a lure once in a while (usually when I only have one kid in the boat), but I have my eye on their lure the whole time.

Man I had a top water plug stuck in me about 2 inches from my eye from a fishing partner and I can say I know how you feel.

What is the string trick?

Wrap string around hook and yank away.

Put the line under the bend of the hook, push down on the shank near the eye of the hook and with a swift jerk, pull the hook free.

O. I always just grabbed the hook and yanked it out in the same direction as in the drawing.. Doesn't seem like the string trick is too tricky. Lol

It was me! - First time i have ever hooked anyone, but i have been hooked too many times and had to learn how to do the string trick the hard way. Great trick, in my opinion everyone needs to learn it - try it on an orange or look it up on YOUTUBE - THey actualy have guys that hook themselves past the barb to show you how to remove it. Thats just dumb. The hook was a Sebile 5/0 1/4oz hook - its a beast. Ive said it 1,000 times but sorry man..... freak accident. For everyones info, he said we are even.... the first time i took him out in my brand new boat he spilt an ENTIRE bottle of dye on the carpet. Ya i know, his is a little worse but we are cool like that LOL
