Daugther moving to Baton Rouge
 

My daugther just got her first real job out college she got two weeks to move form madison,ms. where is a good area for a 21yo single female to live,what area we need to stay out of, oh yea don't hate on her she a new grad from ole miss-geology. thanks proud dad.

thanks, i was told to stay south of governmet st. but he has not lived there in 12yrs.

Tell her to look toward Prairieville/Dutchtown. Nice area and minutes from BR.

my girlfriend lives on July street close to the lakes. It seems pretty safe over in that area and your within walking distance from Tiger stdium on Saturdays!

Where does she plan on working? What area of BR? I know the areas really well.

Go out towards gonzales. They have several new apartment complexes off of 73 and 30

office is on coropate blvd and field work

This.^^^ We have a very low crime rate here. We also have some very nice homes and apartments here as well. I have a friend that is a realtor should she need some help. We're about 20 minutes out of BR, minus traffic. There is a decent night life in Gonzales and, the big cities are just a short drive away. Send her this way. I'm sure my wife would be glad to show her around town as well.

Stay away from North BR and Gardere street. Oh and most of the State streets just north of campus.

if she is working off corporate, there is a few apartment complex's around there that are nice, I wouldn't move in the apartments off college drive. I live off stumberg in some older apartments, but its quiet and I'm close to work, south baton rouge isn't too bad, I clean carpet for a living and do a lot of work for several different apartment companies, if you have any questions about apartments in baton rouge I can answer them for you threw Pm I can't post negative comments about apartments on open forum since I do work for over 50 complexes in BR area.

Tell her to look at turn berry apts on bluebonnet by Perkins , my fiancé used to live there for 5 years w/o any incidents . It's also gated and lots of cops live in there .

Jefferson hwy between Corporate and Essen (Bocage) has some nice apt. complexes. My mom lives in one there (Jefferson Oaks?) and has not had any issues. Zachary and Gonzales area are nice too if she wants to stay out of town, but traffic to and from is a bi - otch!

Gated areas south of campus. Highland Village II....Burbank Estates....Courtney Place....Southgate Towers.

Speaking from experience. My girlfriend lived there for four years.

Almost any whre is Area 5 is fine.
 

Go to the Baton Rouge Advocate and look at area 5 on the map. Traffic is horrible coming into BR on I-10 - that's a consideration if moving to the east of BR on I-10 or I-12. I would avoid the Tiger town (student) area. I assume she's ready for a little quieter life than that area. Anywhere in area 5 between Highland and I-10 is good.

Jefferson/Corporate area has some nice apartments.
My first place lived at Jefferson Shadows back in early 1990's near Jefferson/Bluebonnet area.
Got a house in Old Goodwood that I am presently renting out which is in a place that has alot of young couples or older people. Crime fairly low in that area.

Now I live in the gehtto due to I own four duplexes.
It is real colorful in this area and just got to have thick skin to live here.
Missed the Sunday evening fights it was great all the action you could ever want.
Someone threating someone with a gun, four cops, and a fire truck to make sure the so called victim is ok.
Went into the next morning where a skinny person knocked down a 300 lb which is being nice foodstamp collector. You would have to have seen it to believe it that skinny girl can fight, but she been to prison a few times since I known her. Just got to love it here.

Don't want to live anywhere on Florida Blvd, Sherwood near Florida Blvd, or Old Hammond/Sherwood area.

Come to the Westside!! all areas mentioned are good but they forgot to tell you how bad the traffic is!! We have the bridge to contend with, but minimal issues. I commute in and out of BR everyday and wouldn't trade my commute for going south or east!! No offense to anyone...
