Went to rockefeller headquarters yesterday and spoke to a bilogist and he informed me that the wildlife agents went sunday and castnetted at all the structures and caught maybe 3 pounds of shrimp all together.

Yeah it changes from one day to another, north wind and cool fronts help a lot. I've went one day and caught a few pounds and went the next day and caught a quick limit.

Me and a buddy went today to try the shrimp and we got them. We got there around 8:30 or 9 and we were done around 11:20 with 50 lbs. and I must say, the workers did a great job on the launch. It is very nice!!!

I caught my limit of shrimp today. Size ranged from bait size to extra large. Any thoughts I had about all the shrimp stacked up for six months went...pfffft. It was a very average day. But I'm glad it's open.

DUCKGOGETTER 10-17-2012 06:14 AM

Great reports it should get real good this weekend

fishingonewild 10-17-2012 07:57 AM

great to see its open! looks very nice and clean and yea i sure hope it stay clean and everyone respect that place to keep it in good shape for many years to come... but there will always be some people tha does not give a poop abt keeping it clean.

gasdad 10-17-2012 02:25 PM

Thanks for the report It will be YAHOO City there this weekend I'd imagine. In response to someone who stated something about a 6 month closure, I think it's longer than that. I don't think it was open during big duck season in (Nov) 2011. Anyway I'm glad it's finally open.
I, like most of you would like the place kept up the way it's supposed to so if anyone see's trash being intentionally left at the weir's please call the Refuge Office @337-538-2276 or Operation Game Thief @ 1-800-442-2511

speck cc 10-17-2012 02:40 PM
