Favorite Card Game

What's your favorite and most played card game at the deer/duck/fish camp?

We use to always play Pedro in the area I grew up in, to me that's the funnest card game there is. Then Texas Holdem started showing up on TV and everybody wanted to play that and now no one plays Pedro anymore. Kinda pisses me off.

So my favorite is Pedro.

Most played I guess would be Poker.....now but not 10 years ago.

What says the SaltyCajun Crew?

Pedro is played with 4 players with 2 being partners. You bid how many many points you and you partner can make. A-J-10-5-5if the same color an -2 are the point cards 5s are worth 5 all the rest are worth 1 first one to make 62 wins. It's more involved than that but that's the basics

I know what you mean. This is VERY DANGEROUS to play. It's a lot of fun though. I can't even spell exactly for "BORRARY", too :hairout:

meaux fishing 10-30-2012 08:21 PM

bouray and poker

Harley123 10-30-2012 08:30 PM

bouray

I think Pedro is a Terrebonne / Lafourche Parish game. I grew up playing it because my dad is from Houma. I love it but can't find anyone else who plays around here. I have taken to Euchre, because many people in Vermilion Parish play. I still prefer Pedro though. Both can be played for points and bragging rights instead of money like the rest of the games mentioned here. I do play poker and bourre' too.

Tie

Ours is a 50/50 split between pedro and bourray.

leblanc272 10-30-2012 09:08 PM

I prefer Bourray, and Pedro. Learned Bouray from my Dad and learned Pedro at Nicholls State. Missed a many classes playing pedro in the Student Union.

We also get down with some Booray! That's what you okay when you waiting on winners for the pedro table.

Leblanc I skipped out of HS a few times and work to go play Pedro in the union.

Reggoh 10-31-2012 01:32 PM

I still enjoy playing Spades with a partner... fun game

They tried to teach me pedro when I was working in Cocdrie. I never could catch on they made so many rules up as the game went on. Cheaters!!!

Lafourche parish rules are different from Terrebonne Parish rules. Terrebonne Parish rules are better in my opinion.

Reefman 10-31-2012 03:31 PM

Bourre' on weekends and team (4 players) gin during the week. When i was younger, we would eat at the camp, clean up and head to LC casinos and chase your cowgirls around! Many a Sunday morn found me crawling around lookin for Advil in the camp!

Pedro

I was born and raised in Lafourche Parish and yes, Terrebonne rules are different and yes, better. But none are worst than the rules of the river parishes, which they refer to as "cut throat pedro". Mr. LeBlanc, I too skipped many of classes as Nicholls drinking 1.50 pitcher of beers playing pedro in the union.
