"pecan" pronounciation
 

Ever since I met my wife we've had the infamous debate on the way you say "pecan". I say "puh con", she says "pee can"which drives me crazy. just wondering how yall pronounce it. I think its the yankee in her.

Pa-con. People sound retarded when they call it "pee-can". Same thing with pray-leen" and "praw-leen". Maybe it's the Coonass in me but maw maw always called those "praw-leens"!

There's nothing finer after a pop and a brot than a slice of Gam-gam's good old fashioned pee-can pie!

I like homemade root beer, a sausage Po-boy then a slice a MeeMaw's PaCohn pie!

The Indians came up with the name. And it's puh-con. Just read that in a farm magazine

same with "crick" and "creek"...... I went fishing in the "crick" ....... uhhhh you went fishing in thr crick in your neck ?? f'n yankees !!!!

I have family in Illinois and they say "crick". What really kills me is "sodee" or "pop"

Yeh cause y'all from LC. That might as well be considered Texas. One time I was fishing BL and some guys pulled up on me and we started talking. One guy says, "you must be from Lafayette." LOL like its another state or something.

when I went to UL they stated my accent sounded like I was from Texas.

Haha definitely. Crazy how different accents are just from Lafayette to LC. LC people do talk like Texans. Then I can ride to my deer camp an hour and a half the other way and people talk like Rednecks! Then you can keep going south to Houma/GI and you get the "down da bayou" accent. 4 different accents in one state!
