Just got my worksharp knife sharpener yesterday. Took me a while to make up my mind to buy one but so glad I did. I don't have a dull knife in the house anymore!

Ordered one today. Cant wait to get it.

Got me one after seeing all the good stuff I seen on here 4 or 5 months ago.
It is as good as y'all said . Well worth it . Makes everything else obsolete if you ask me. I can sharpen every knife I own in less than 15 mins. With stones or lansky it would take hours

Yea the worksharp is very exciting to have at first. Then it gets you upset more and more. Upset because you don't have anything else to use it on. :)

I know. Bored with mine already. Think I might go cut some bricks so I can sharpen my knife:D

does it sharpen ceramic blades too?

From the reading I've done it does sharpen ceramic with a different belt.

Its not the sportsmans but why the color of your knife sharpener matters I don't know. I think the only difference is it's green. My Secret Santa got me the Sportsman model, I would have been happy with the regular one.

How much life can I expect to get out of the belts? Just wondering how many I need to order when I order my sharpener.

Have not used mine enough to say 100 percent but I sharpened about 20 different knives and a friend borrowed it and did at least 10. I do not see any noticable wear in belts.. I think i got like 2 or 3 extra belts of each. They cheap, and easier to order them now when you place the order than come back later

I have sharpened around 40 knives. I wore out the fine purple belt on prob number 35. The other orange belt still looks new. My kit came with a belt cleaning block and if you clean after each knife the belts last longer.

Said the ceramic is much harder than the belt. I only have one boker knife that has a ceramic blade. Gets to be a pain to ship it off every time to have it sharpened.

Which kit did you order. I haven't seen one with a belt cleaning block. Also did not see as an accessory.

Look on worksharp website. They sale a diamond belt said to be for ceramic.

I know this is a very old thread but have any of y'all tried the 6000 grit silicon carbide abrasive belts versus the regular 6000 grit purple ones that it comes with? They cost a good bit more but if they work better and last longer I don't mind the extra cost.

I almost bought one of these sharpeners the other day. Had it in my hand but put it back on the shelf.

Are y'all still happy with this sharpener ?

X 10... Haven't tried the new belt but thinking about getting one to try.

I love mine also but seems like the 6000 grit belts that came with it wear out in 1 or two knives tops. That's why I was asking if anybody has tried the silicon carbide abrasive ones.

I still use the regular belts. The 6000 does appear to wear quick but I use them for a while. Just takes a few extra passes.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to try one.

I love it. Heven't got into the high grit belts though. I like to hand sharpen but after a while you loose that precise angle. I use the worksharp to get it back. It worth the money I promise.

I found the belt replacement packs at Field and Stream here in Lafayette yesterday. Picked up two boxes of the 6000 grit for $10 apiece.

I bought one several weeks ago. I like it. Puts a nice edge and angle.

Quick and easy.....

After reading this thread, I bought one on Amazon. This thing is awesome! I've sharpen every knife in the house. Even cheap Walmart knifes that have been sitting around for years can be razor sharp in about 2 minutes.
