davides618 05-20-2009 08:54 AM

I Bought a custom made rod and its hands down the best one I ever fished with.

CatDaddy 05-20-2009 09:57 AM

I got one of those falcons and I have no complAints about it yet. I havnt used it but 2 times and can't think of one bad thing to say about it. Good Choice.

WaterLoo has Lifetime warranty!!! These days you cant get by with a cheap rod like All Star anymore!!!

SULPHITE 05-20-2009 10:40 AM

Yeah I learned that lesson the hard way! They are like toothpicks man!

LaAngler 05-20-2009 10:51 AM

i like my waterloo the best out of any i've ever had.....it's just balanced so perfect with the low pro shimano reel....

for all corky and topwater i would go with an HP SLAM

st. croix is a good company to deal with for production rods...

FP10 05-20-2009 12:02 PM

Billistix!!!!!!!!!!

Capt. Ryan Rachunek 05-20-2009 12:11 PM

Once you throw a Laguna, you'll break every Waterloo you own......

LaAngler 05-20-2009 12:22 PM

isn't it the same blank

Do you use the custom or the inshore series?? Inshore not priced bad at all...

Capt. Ryan Rachunek 05-20-2009 12:50 PM

I throw the custom Laguna rods and I have thrown the Inshore Series and they are nice rods, they just don't have the Recoil guides... I actually have several brand new Inshore series for sale that I can cut you a deal on...

CAJUN THUNDER 05-20-2009 12:53 PM

i have a laguna with the recoil eyes on it,nice rod.but i don't use it,it's in the garage leaning up against the fridge.

SULPHITE 05-20-2009 12:53 PM

CAJUN THUNDER 05-20-2009 01:02 PM

let me have one to try out. I like the AR H3's. How similar/different are they. I can swing by and pick it up. I drive thru richmond everyday to get to work and go home.

Falcon Rods

I'll cast my vote for Falcon Coastal and Low Rider rods. I've got a Low Rider "Weightless Worm rod" that is the finest topwater and flounder rod I've ever used. I like the Calcasieu Special and Big Lake Special's for fishing plactics. Go with Falcon.

Capt. Matt Caire 05-20-2009 05:08 PM

I dont know about yall but I dont have good luck with Falcon rods. They are nice and all but I had gotten one a few years back and it broke in no time. Thank god I had an academy reciept, because I am on my 5th one in about three years, and it is not from overabuse or misuse. I started getting American Rodsmith Rods and they have a nice soft tip with a solid backbone. By far the strongest rod I have ever used. Not as light as the Waterloo, but a good rod. I like the Troutmaster Lite... medium light action. Bit I also looked at a Castaway Skeleton the other day at Chags and it was an awesome rod. Very very nice. Super light.

LaAngler 05-20-2009 09:15 PM

i've had good luck with falcon over the years, broke some but it was usually my fault, and lake charles tackle used to have an awesome replacement policy. they eventually got too picky and i tried out shimano rods for a while...

i picked up a cenderi ti to try it out, it's not as light as the 'loo tho...

the skeletons are......

can't wait to see this new falcon, even tho salty claims it won't be as good.....

i also use a falcon cara t7 medium, but the fav. rod of mine is the st. croix tourney legend "teaser" 7ft med. a bit pricey but very sensitive and it has the split cork grip. i really did like my cenderi until ponchatrain swallowed it with a curado, but the cenderi is only 100 bones right now

flounder_smacker 05-21-2009 12:52 AM

i still rock the round abu garcias on the all star rods. ive caught my biggest fish on all stars. ive switched to mostly castaways and have one falcon t7 but i havent had much luck. seems like every time i upgrade in gear i catch less quality fish. maybe ill go back to the 33 classic and start tearing them up.

Ducktrickster 05-21-2009 07:17 AM

falcon and custom

I bought a falcon coastal and it broke on the first descent trout I hooked with it. I had a friend of mine build me a 7.5 foot custom with a st. croix blank and love it. It is very light, extremely sensitive, well balanced, and it is still in one piece after a year. He is currently building me a rod with micro guides spiral wrapped that is going to be the bomb. I fished with one similar to it last month and it is amazing how sensitive and how well this rod casts. P.M. me if you want to contact him.

Ricky Hebert 05-21-2009 07:24 AM

Look at the 6 feet 6 Waterloo

ST. croix was $170 if I remember correctly. The mirco spiral should be around $200 maybe a little more. It really depends on the type of blank and the guides. I'll call him and find out.

"W" 05-21-2009 10:31 AM

Just Get a Waterloo !!!!

slick143 05-21-2009 11:23 AM

I bought a carrot stick at the oilmans this year and I love it. It is extremely light and balanced. I have a Shimano Castaic on it and it seems to do well. Not sure about the durability because I haven't fished with it much. Be sure to wear your sunglasses when outside with it though. It is bright.

Ducktrickster 05-21-2009 11:45 AM

Just talked to him. He makes 2 trout rods a med light and a med mod. with microguides they are $150. Painted blanks are $175. BTW, my new rod is almost done and it is painted purple and gold. Will post picks when I get it.

you gonna have him put the 'GATORSPECK' on it?

RAKEDLAKE 05-21-2009 08:40 PM

The falcon with shimano chronarch is super sweet. I just went to shimano and love them with this rod.

Xpressboat908 05-21-2009 08:50 PM

Shimano

RAKE glad I turned you on to Shimano. Throw those Quantum reels in the trash or can you say garage sale.
