New Boat ?

I been looking at new boats and the prices blow my mind. Any way i am looking for one close to 22' but wanted to keep it around 40k or under if possible. I really like the frontier but what's y'all opinion on the 24' Xpress HD. They look great but I hear some issues from some people but I can't tell if they are just being bias or what ? I fish all over Venice to Sabine I love getting really shallow for reds and stuff and i fish a lot of open water reefs but have little interest in going offshore and don't feel like I need to fish in monster waves anymore. That being said if I do go out and it gets rough I'd like to know I got something solid under me if I get a little wet in 3fters than oh well. Thoughts Please.

mriguy 03-14-2013 10:12 AM

Stay away from a HD for open water fishing, hyperlift is much better in any kind of chop. I am not biased, I have the hyperlift and like it alot. I would think you could get a Frontier to fit your budget, they look really sweet.

Montauk17 03-14-2013 10:13 AM

I hear ya they are getting out of control with the price.....xpress makes a nice boat but you will never match the smooth ride of a glass boat. They both have their ups and downs. Another option would be to find a second hand glass boat. If you look enough you can come across killer deals way below sticker price. I priced a 210 frontier with a 150 yammy was 32k in houma.

mriguy 03-14-2013 10:14 AM

For your budget, ther is a very nice Triton 22LTS for sale on this site. If I was looking for a boat, I would jump all over it!

Big Kahunaz 03-14-2013 10:17 AM

^^^what he said. Boat is like new and in mint condition!

PaulMyers 03-14-2013 10:19 AM

Frontier 2104 with the 150 or 175.

Call Kyle or Gerald at Lake Area Marine. 337-433-7019, they'll hook you up!

Clampy 03-14-2013 11:07 AM

I love that triton but am a little scared of a second hand and of a Merc but my fears are probably silly and unwarranted.

Clampy 03-14-2013 11:08 AM

What's the complaints about Frontier and I hear something about wood construction is that something to really worry about.

I've never heard anything bad about them at all!

Clampy 03-14-2013 11:21 AM

I just hear a lot of people cry b/c it supposedly has some wood like a Haynie but I'm not sure if It would matter if its built right.

Kyle71 03-14-2013 11:32 AM

The Frontier 2104 is a all composite boat with no wood. The 210 Frontier has a wood stringer system in it like most rolled gunnel boats do.

alphaman 03-14-2013 11:35 AM

^^^^^

Montauk17 03-14-2013 11:37 AM

Nothing wrong with marine grade wood when sealed with fiberglass properly. My boston whaler is a 1970 and is full of wood. All original only cosmetic work ever done to the hull.

Clampy 03-14-2013 11:40 AM

Nice. Thanks guys.

Clampy 03-14-2013 11:52 AM

What's Y'all Preference Yammy or Suzuki ?

Montauk17 03-14-2013 11:54 AM

Both great engines but I would go with yamaha. Parts and service is way easier to find.

Clampy 03-14-2013 11:58 AM

I'm a yammy man but I do like that 175

Montauk17 03-14-2013 12:04 PM

Wait for the yamaha 150 sho to come out soon

DA COVE 03-14-2013 12:05 PM

The new 4 cylinder Yamaha 200 should be a good match for the frontier. I like the k2 boats, love my blackjack..

meaux fishing 03-14-2013 12:17 PM

Bill Kenner(frontier and blackjack) doesn't build bad boats, period..

Clampy 03-14-2013 12:27 PM

Hmm I like that 150 sho. Seems like its gonna be a beast. If I can get 53-55 (light load of course )with it I'd be stoked.

SaltyShaw 03-14-2013 02:54 PM

That 22' Triton would be way to go with your budget!!

Just not a big Merc Fan and weary about 2nd hand.

Ed32 03-14-2013 03:21 PM

a good motor on the 2104 would be a 200 hpdi. and i think they're cheaper than the f150 when i priced them out.

thats understandable for sure...If that boat didnt have that optimax it would probably be sold already. If there was one guy on here I would trust to buy a boat from it would be Micah though. Besides these days you can run the hours and rpms through a computer and see if a motor has been abused

They not even out yet bro.....yamahas inline 4's are good on fuel

Clampy 03-14-2013 04:02 PM

If a 200 is cheaper that would be awesome. I'm really liking that frontier 2104. I have a 22' key west now it's just such a deep v it makes it tough to get shallow plus it's a 98' and getting up there in age. Weighs a lot too.

thanks for the kind words. pulling the triton off the market as it's not worth losing money over, and truthfully, she's perfect for what i need. was looking to get a custom tran, so i'll have to wait on that. going to get a safefloor put in to make it easier to clean.
http://safe-floor.com/Marine.html

Clampy, outside of a used rig, I would be all over the Frontier. Probably one of the best values on the market.

Clampy 03-14-2013 04:43 PM

Go talk to Kyle at Lake Area Marine. I'm sure he has all the numbers for the different motors on the 2104.

Clampy 03-14-2013 05:09 PM

We are in touch. Just curious on y'all thoughts

The Zuk 175, best on fuel and parts won't be a problem. It will really push that 2104.

mriguy 03-14-2013 05:16 PM

I saw a 2104 with the Suzy traveling the Salt Ditch for the Feb16 redfish tourney, what a beautiful boat.

Montauk17 03-14-2013 05:17 PM

Suzuki for sure is the fastest....Personally I would make a decision on local dealers if you have to do warranty work. I know here in lafayette nobody really does suzuki warranty. Got blacks marine but that place is a joke.

They mostly service yamaha....they will work on suzuki but do not keep many parts in stock for them.

Clampy 03-14-2013 06:33 PM

Y'all have been a ton of help.

jchief 03-14-2013 07:53 PM

I have a 2009 210 Frontier with a 150 Yamaha 4 stroke. My next boat will be another Frontier with a 175 Suzuki.
