Had to be at heliport at 5 to drop someone off. Stopped in a honey hole in buras and did work. All on Spectrum Spook and gold/black skitter walk. Release 4 reds and kept 6 trout. Nothing under 21".

Sightwindow 04-02-2013 09:31 AM

Sweet!! Way to use that down time!

meaux fishing 04-02-2013 09:32 AM

nuthin wrong with that

BassYakR 04-02-2013 09:39 AM

Thats awesome! Hows that spinnin rod do with topwater?

Clampy 04-02-2013 09:41 AM

Them suckas had my knees weak chasing that skitta in 12" of water. I had about 20 blow ups. Pulled off 3 nice ones. They would smoke it then bury me in the grass and come off.

same as a baitcaster, just gotta get used to it. I caught an 8lb snook on top with a spinning reel before.

Clampy 04-02-2013 09:44 AM

It does awesome. With 10# super slick. Chuck it a mile. I'd rather my BC for it but when I go on road all I bring is the Stradic. Don't know what kind of conditions I will face. Spinning Reel is more Versatile

Clampy 04-02-2013 09:46 AM

Couldn't even see the bait in the Fog for a while this morn.

BassYakR 04-02-2013 09:46 AM

Yeah im in the market for a spinning setup. Just not sure on what i want. Ive bought cheap ones in the past bc i didnt think id like em. And that just made me hate em. But i think im ready to try again.

a cheap spinning rod is the worst. They always have the action of a wet noodle

Shimano Stradic Ci4 is the only babe u need to know. Thank me lata. 7'6" wright and mcgill Blair wiggins rod.

Clampy 04-02-2013 09:49 AM

Name*

Clampy 04-02-2013 09:50 AM

Waterloo makes a sweet 7'6 also. Just $$$.

BassYakR 04-02-2013 09:54 AM

So what kinda money we talking? For full setup? Im not scared to spend a lil money just not a fortune. Lol i use lews tourney pro reels and duce rods now for my bait cast setups.. Not crazy expensive.. But good stuff.

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

Clampy 04-02-2013 09:55 AM

230$ for the reel. 90 for the rod I use. Waterloo is like 170

BassYakR 04-02-2013 09:58 AM

Thats not too bad... I hoping for around 150 on reel.. And 100 on rod.

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

Clampy 04-02-2013 09:58 AM

You can get the reel cheaper online

meaux fishing 04-02-2013 09:59 AM

If I were you I would spend the money on the rod and by s a shimano symetre for $100 Ive had a few of em for 6 years or so and they have never failed me

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:00 AM

In my experience with spinning reels. Of you spend a lil $$ you won't have complaints

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:01 AM

Ive learned this lesson on baitcasters for sure also.

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:01 AM

Semteye is a solid reel. The Stradic ci4 is sealed really good and built just for power pro

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:05 AM

Stradic ci4? 2000f , 3000f, 4000f? Lots of options.. And im not sure of the differences

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:07 AM

Just size. I have a 2500 and a 3000

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:08 AM

Yeah they are priced pretty good on ebay... Bout 130 for 3000f

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:08 AM

My slack time at work is about to cost me money.. Lol

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:08 AM

The handle is bigger on the 3000. I love em both. I highly recommend that wright and MacGill Blair Wiggins inshore slam rod. @ Railside

Anywheres in lc to get my hands on one to check out?

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:11 AM

I roll with 8# power pro on my 2500 and 10# super slick power pro on the 3000.

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:12 AM

U mean 8lb diameter right?

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:13 AM

I'm in laffy I don't not know. I got mine from academy. They have 2 Stradics. The FJ and ci4. Get ci4

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:13 AM

Nope 8# test

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:14 AM

But that's me. I'm crazy. That stuff is strong.

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:15 AM

Dang thats light. Lol i think imma order me a reel. Ill find me a rod once it comes in.

I've never broke a trout off. This is a 90# gar fish of 8#

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:19 AM

I've caught two 7lb trout on 10# u can feel em breath on it.

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:21 AM

Imma have to get me one... I wanna use it for finesse fishin for bass also.

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:21 AM

I think any more than 15# test seem to hurt the performance of a spinning reel. That super slick is easy on rod guides too.

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:22 AM

That's what I use the 8. # for. Shaky heads and wacky and drop shot

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:24 AM

I have 5# power pro on my sac a lait rod. If you wanna talk light.

Puglias has that reel for under $200, I belive 179.99
And yes it is one bad azz reel!

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:26 AM

Dammit boi! I use 20# power pro on my baitcasters with a 20# floro leader

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:29 AM

I am so confident that you would love the super slick 10 pound test that I would buy you a spool if you didn't like it

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:29 AM

You just got a have drag set right on the Hookset is the biggest deal

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:32 AM

I prefer mono for tops b/c it floats and stretches you don't pull as many trebles with mono. I use 12# on the Chronarch

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:34 AM

Dang! I will prob take ur word for it... Imma pull the trigger on a reel today. And prob get me some 10# superslick.

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:34 AM

I use 20# floro leader on everything.

Clampy 04-02-2013 10:45 AM

When you are casting 25 yds further than everyone else in the boat it doesn't hurt either. You might break a few off before you get use to it but I think you will love it.

BassYakR 04-02-2013 10:59 AM

Sounds good man...thanks for the help

Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android dominating the world!)

breambuster 04-02-2013 11:02 AM

I second the 10# i use it on my shimano solstice and love it. Very easy to cast an 1/8th oz jig head. Caught some nice reds on it and had no problem
