Looking for a Chronarch 50mg

Been looking to get my hands on one for awhile. If someone sees one please shoot me a pm

inchspinner 04-04-2013 10:02 AM

Chronarch 100d7 imo one of the top 3 reels, the older one

SGib 04-04-2013 10:09 AM

Looking for a light reel.

Here are 2, but they will probably end up with a price over a NEW Chronarch 50e, not worth it IMO. 50e weighs just barely over the 50 mg.Just a suggestion, if you cant find what your looking for, at a good price.

SGib 04-04-2013 10:25 AM

50mg is 5.9. oz
50e is 7.1oz

Yeah thats not too much if you think about it, here is one but it says SPF .
If you want extreme light, Shimano Core 50MG is 5.5oz

Clampy 04-04-2013 10:48 AM

Doesn't MG mean magnesium. Isn't that not good for salt water ?

It corrodes alot easier, thats why alot of people dont buy the core but will buy the next best, the chronarch.

Clampy 04-04-2013 11:09 AM

I've seen those cores corroded bad. I will stick with my Chronarchs. 2 oz mean crap to me. I don't know why all these guys that are done by 8 with a limit of trout care about the weight. Seems by their reports that they only throw 40 times a morning anyway.

Dink 04-04-2013 11:14 AM

There's a few on the side of the road ob the way to heberts......they cone with free waterloo rods

That's where Cores belong.

SGib 04-04-2013 11:31 AM

Honestly just wanting something "new" for wading. Lewd has a real light one just not sure if I wanna drop the cheddar

Clampy 04-04-2013 11:33 AM

Why pay 400 for a real meant for bass and won't hold up for salt water. B/C it's the lightest ? The only way I'd get one is if they would swap it as soon as it would corrode. I'm sure it's the baddest thing cranking but hey If you got it $$$ Rock It.

SGib 04-04-2013 11:41 AM

Yeah why I was looking for an older chronarch.

You will like the 50 Chronarch, it may be a tad heavier but its a very nice reel .

SGib 04-04-2013 11:47 AM

I will check it out for sure.

Clampy 04-04-2013 11:47 AM

I still got a bantam 100 chron. I've had for 15 years.

inchspinner 04-04-2013 11:50 AM

I got the 100d7 chron. 50mg core, and new chron....hands down new is lighter i think but 100d7 iz the sheet and will not buy another core...jmo

Clampy 04-04-2013 11:59 AM

You will if you wanna be cool !!

meaux fishing 04-04-2013 12:00 PM

You might look for one of the curado 50e's. They weigh 6.9oz. I got one and I love it

bayouchub 04-04-2013 12:11 PM

Ive got a few cores that ive had since they came out fished in salt only and no corrosion issues. It all about how you take care of your equipment.

Right on. I always hose them off good and break down and oil once a month. But as good as the Chron is :) I don't think that's a 380$ risk I wanna take.

if you fish 8-12 hours a day like I do most of the time...you want light equt

with rod 3oz and reel 5.5 oz you can use it all day

so you don't limit out every day by 7:30am? :p

I never wanted to spend the money on a core until I fished with one on my last trip. after fishing with a core on a 3oz rod, everything else feels like a brick. makes you kinda scratch your head when you change rods and realize the difference.

SGib 04-04-2013 03:16 PM

Would love some feedback on this reel as well. Currently all of my reels are the Tourney Pro's. Thought they were nice until I fished with one of Capt. Hebert's cores. Now, not so much... The Lew's pro lists at $300 so it's not that big of a bargain compared to the core.

i use a Chronarch 50mg for wadeing and love it prolly the best casting reel i have used they are hard to find and expensive..... i have not had any corrosion issues as of yet i just rinse it after every trip and take it apart every 2-3 trips and apply corrosion x.

only the frame is MG side plates and nose are not.

check the 2 cool classifieds they pop up from time to time also check out he curado 50e

SGib 04-05-2013 07:21 AM

Preciate it Sabine. Can't get a response back from the one still on their classifieds.
