Topwater Meathaul 5/11
 

Despite the rains we headed out to heberts this am... greated with early morning fog. Several areas did not produce fish... First fish to come to the boat was a 4lber I landed after the fog lifted around 9am. caught a straggler at about every reef we stopped at. Luckily, we stopped at our initial hole to see if a better tide would produce and IT DID! 3 and 4lb fish were coming to the boat regularly. The fish were doing acrobatics to get these topwater!!! I saw several fish over 6lb coming outta the water to chase shrimp. pretty amazing site.

THE CRAZIEST part of the trip was the 7lber Micah caught.... fish hit topwater 10 ft from the boat and started screaming away. He knew it was a hawg.... after a good 5 min fight the fish gets wrapped in a buddies line.... SNAP!!! micahs line breaks.... WAIT....... Keith's line starts ripping drag!!! fish on... we look down and micah's bait is caught in its mouth and keith's bait caught micah's bait. keith hands over the pole to micah and we boat the fish!!!!! smooth 7lber!!!! It only starts to get crazier as we see more fish hit the boat off of topwater!!!! Ended the trip with 20 SOLID trout. Ended up with 4 4lbers, several 3s, and a 7lb. All fish were caught down south. Not knowing much of the details, If I had a 7 on and a "buddy" had his line anywhere near my line, I'd have to seriously question the status of the friendship and/or the mental capacity of said "buddy".

I dont think anyone will forget that one... i thought micah was about to skull drag keith for a moment. i think we couldve boated another biggen if we couldve fished another hr. most of the damage was done in 1 hr.
