Which would you rather catch...?
 

A world record speckled trout, or, a bass that breaks the current world record? A 17 lb 8 oz trout might be worth a free mount.....what would the bass be worth?

The bass. Catching either one would kinda be a random thing unless you were a noted pursuer of either fish and could move merchandise for companies. The bass is more internationally known and you'd get some endorsements regardless. Trout, you'd be a legend on SC, but would be labeled as luck by a lot.

I doubt the luck would rival the dude that holds the current trout record. Thought it was a line-side and ate it. :eek:

Yeah, but we can't all be that good. I checked my log book from 2009 and with the east wind, el nino pattern, and pink dolphin effect, we caught 35 by 7:45am on July 5th. Hoping we double that this year.

Catching the bass would be cool for the money but I would rather catch the trout. I like fishing for trout more than bass and if the big bass I caught is any indication of what a 25lb bass would fight like, it would be more fun to catch the trout. I bet you could get some free gear for catching the trout, by promoting their rods and baits around the gulf coast in your report of catching it.

The bass would make you a millionaire overnight, giving you plenty of time to fish for the trout! I'm heading to Falcon to see if I can make it happen. LOL

The trout for me, it's more difficult.

Well salty I caught an 8.5 oz bass on lake okeechobee & that's bigger then any speck I ever caught( 6.10). Catching the bass was awesome!!! But the fishing was kinda a let down; I had to get her out the grass , but after that she just surrendered.
The trout was in top water and was extremely challenging.
Now I got a pic up on the wall @ Roland Martin place which is kool( so does my wife 8# bass)
I think as far as the experience of the catch / drama for me the trout gave me a better show.
But I'll never forget seeing that bass break the surface and the mouth open!!!

I have to agree. Caught a 9.5lb bass in my early teens and distinctly remember the fish swimming straight to me, putting up almost no fight. Caught the fish in shallow water on a parrot colored baby 1 minus and I can still replay watching that white belly roll on that bait.

My biggest speck is 6.5 and I feel that the fight is much more thrilling.

Give me the speck.

George Perry was a household name growing up for me. Craig Carson was not. I'd take the bucket mouth all day. The $$$ also helps my decision.

Lol cuz people catch world record bass every day lol. I would take the bass just for the dough.
