New Vudu Hooks on the way

We posted several months ago that we would address the hooks in the Vudu. The top one has the new 4x hook. It also helps with casting distance with a little added weight. Please be patient, we have over 100 thousand units in flow, so the new hooks won't hit the shelf for a 30-45 days.

We will also offer replacement hooks so you can change out the hook. All replacement hooks will be priced very low and offer free shipping.

Also, if you have a problem with any Egret products please contact me directly - ken@egretbaits.com Those who know me, understand that I take the lure business very serious and constructive comments are welcome.

now the guys with 50lb powerpro can break less hooks

Sightwindow 06-05-2013 09:00 PM

Just hope it doesn't kill the action. That thing glides like a champ.

egretbaits 06-05-2013 09:23 PM

We made sure the action stayed on target. The new hook adds .10 of a gram. Very little difference.

Montauk17 06-05-2013 09:56 PM

Looks redfish tough now

marshrunner757 06-05-2013 10:11 PM

Looks good. Only had one big red break a hook. The vudu shrimp are really amazing.

PaulMyers 06-05-2013 11:27 PM

Can't wait to try the new hooks myself!

Ken, are they just stronger or is the gap a little larger also?

What about guys straightening them will 10# power pro. The bait works awesome but if I have to net a 14" trout to keep from bending a hook they need to be stronger. Glad to see egret baits working with its customers.

Same gap and length. Just larger diameter. Also, better tempered steel. A more expensive hook, but no cost increase for fisherman.

Sounds great!

Thanks Ken.

I have a buddy who had some Vudus and they melted in his box that he had stored in his house. That plus the hook issue is kinda scaring me from buying and trying.

Sounds suspect. I left two packs in the side pouch of my tackle bag all day in the sun in the boat and they didn't melt. Something I did notice is if you leave them in the grass ants will swarm all over them. Ken do y'all put a sent on these things.

I use 12 pound big game and I have snagged the bottom and pulled myself to the snag in a kayak and the hook didn't bend at all. I caught several 3-4 pound fish night fishing and sling them up on the dock with no problem.

Clampy 06-06-2013 12:21 PM

They melt. Had a pack melt before I even opened them as well. I'm not complaining about it though its a plastic bait not indestructible and if precautions aren't taken that's probably your bad.

I made a order today from Egret bits and they were out of stock on the Vudus. When will they be available again? I'd like to try some?

Clampy 06-06-2013 12:27 PM

Well they ain't changing the hooks on hear say alone and a few e mails. So obviously they had some issues and are right on top of it so good deal.

Goooh 06-06-2013 01:24 PM

I like it.

No company has ever existed that didn't have an issue with there product, what separates companies is their willingness to act on deficiencies and ability to correct those issues. Egret seems to be right on it, I wish more companies would be like this!

Yep, you never get it right the first time. You have to listen to your customers and make the changes. Seems like they have done that:)

Ray 06-07-2013 08:42 PM

I never bent a hook with Trout yet. Lost a VUDU today that caught close to 100 fish this week. Leader broke.
I have had bent hooks on Redfish. But they bend right back. I like fishing with light tackle and light lures. Makes for a better battle when hooking up with dinks.

Again.. I'll ask the Question; which hasn't been answered yet.. If U were to fish ONE COLOR vudu?? What color would it be??

No scent, maybe the smell of trout! Always store you Vudu in separate bag or box away from PVC plastics.

egretbaits 06-10-2013 05:32 PM

Best colors so far

So far, what we have found out is simple. You can't get the shrimp near other plastic. Shrimp are made from TPE same material used in flip flops and thousands of household products. PVC is used to make most soft plastics. PVC will melt and get gummy in the sun. It will leach oils and gases into a closed box like a plano tray. If Vudu are in that tray, the may melt. Best bet is to store Vudu in zip lock worm proof bag. Just save your old bags, wipe them clean from oil and your should be ok.

redaddiction 06-12-2013 09:33 PM

What about packaging the Vudu's in their own "ziplock" style bag? Attached to the cardboard backing card. Then you can just throw it in the tackle box, tray, or bag like that. Then have instructions on the card of how to handle. It's a great product and I'd hate to see bad experiences with the product because of melting hurt the business because of word of mouth.

Good idea

alphaman 06-13-2013 07:22 AM

I keep mine in the package it sold in and drop it in with all the other plastics. No problems so far.
