Big Lake Reds Stacked

3 Attachment(s)
Wish the trout and flatfish were on like the reds today. All three of us managed to get our cajun grand slams. Trout were small and hard to come by, flounder had size but the numbers were low, red fish made up for it all. Couldn't believe they were hitting so agressivly because it appeared they were about to pop the way they were so fat. Could have filled the boat up with em today. Stopped after filling the limit and worked on some trout and flounder. Lots of birds working the Lake with small trout under them. Water was rough but salty and not as muddy as we had expected. Not a day for the ones not willing to get knocked around on the water. Most caught on south end with mainly Gulp Alive New Penny Shrimp with 3/8 oz lead head on bottom.

Not sure. We fought the wind and waves to much to pull out anything short of the net! Split up the fish and told everyone to go home and let me was my funky fish smellin' arse so I can get in bed and get some rest...after a cold one of course.:)

Yea you ain't kidding about that one! It would be nice to go rack up on some reds in the bay soon.

Montauk17 10-29-2009 12:18 PM

If you can make it to marsh island you can tear up the reds....I usually fish oyster lake, its down the bird island bayou canal past the last big weir. This time of the year you can go in there and catch all the reds and flounder you want.

The bay has to be slick like a baby's behind for me to be able to make it to marsh island. I just have a 16' alumicraft, it doesn't take chop very well.

Cleaned fish today and most were full of shrimp others had shad, 3-4". Cat didn't mind it at all. All she cared about was the sushi bar was open and the takens was fresh even though it had bones in it! :D

Still can't believe we stayed out there yesterday after the wind tried to blow us off the water. Fish junkies we are!

cabwiz2 10-29-2009 02:30 PM

Man I would be scared pulling my boat in this much less putting it in the water. I can barely keep my truck on the road.

Now that makes it an even better report! Including an autopsy and stomach contents of the catch with picture proof oughta be mandatory on SC.com...

Can't wait to get out and find some birds...

BIGJ 10-29-2009 06:48 PM

fun w son 10-30-2009 04:42 PM
