Ipilot remote battery
Fyi. I had a lil hiccup this weekend with my remote cutting off, anchor lock switching off.
Sooo I did some research on the battery in the remote etc. The walmart batteries (CR2450) wont work well in the remote. They said you need is CR2450N.. You can get them from radio shack. sent from my Galaxy NOTE II |
thanks for the info alphaman.

BatteryPlus
Alpha...I purchased some at a BatteryPlus store in Houma. This is a chain store, so I can assume that if Houma has one, Lafayette would also.

I just realized that my remote anchor lock problem may have been OPERATOR ERA being that there is a ABCDEF setting to store 6 anchor lock points and it kept cutting off because i never set it. lol still learning!

I don't like that it didn't come with the removable bracket and I installed it without. Now if I want to add it will have to drill other holes. This is my fault I should have researched more I guess.
Other issue I have is the design makes it so where you have to install on the very edge of the bow. and nothing to support the head unit. I ended up buying a ram mount but could have easily built something out of PVC. Minn Kota should include something to support the heads though, at least for customer peace of mind. |

I love my I-Pilot, it works great! I'll echo what meaux fishing has said, used it on the beach in some big time swells, offshore at the rigs in some fantastic current, strong winds on Big Lake.
Now Clampy, it won't hold you precisely at a given location, but whatever the radius of selective availability. So there is some slop in the system, but for most applications, you're gonna fall in love with it. One of the best applications I can think of is those times when you're involved with something other than fishing (retying a lure, netting a fish, getting drinks, etc.). Another plus, now you can give up the front deck to your friends and you still have control of your boat. Pretty slick. I heard the same thing about the battery going out, so I now carry the foot pedal along. I'm in the process of changing over to I-link, same thing, just more spot lock waypoints, I-tracks and options. This will be great for slow trolling white perch on Toledo Bend. |
The anchor on mine holds pretty good. I don't like how the unit sticks out in the front even when stowed.
