Shimano Rod Guys
I heard this weekend that Shimano has a no more break it "No questions ask" on rods
Its now a $100 to send off |
Well, if that's the case, I'll start trying other rods.

Who told you that?
Not all rods have the lifetime warranty. Only certain models. Also not all dealers do the over the counter warranty. Here's the link to shimanos rod warranty policyhttp://www.shimano.com/publish/conte..._Warranty.html |
Guy at LCT told me you were gonna need the original receipt to return them from now on.

I broke them fishing a topwater frog and flipping for bass. I have 10 year old all star titanium rods that never break.
|
One on my friends tried to replace one last week and they said send $100 with rod to Shimano
Too many abuse the system is what the guy told him, and thats why Shimano started charging |
I broke my Duce rod Saturday on a redfish and I've broke several shimanos setting the hook on flounders.
|
Well if when you bought the rod it had the lifetime warranty, they can't legally change it. It can apply to new purchases but not one already bought.

G-loomis is over the counter swap. on the first break, after that you have to send 60-80dollars to get replacement.

This past week I got a shimano crucial got it home put the line through the eyes tighten it up and it snapped. Never saw a rod break that easy. Thought it was just that one. Went back to exchange it got home was casting it in the yard got hung up on the grass and snapped. Brought them both back no questions asked but the second one I broke I didn't want another one so they let me switch to a Gloomis just pay the difference in rod cost. They were saying that they get those shimano rods in all the time. I'll never get another shimano rod. This was 2 days ago for the last switch.

Waterloo $50 replacement... I have broke two ( one got caught on a cleat and i snapped it, other broke flipping in a 7lb red )

I have been going through rods like no tomorrow. I went years without breaking one now seems like everytime I fish one breaks or gets stolen. Started building my own, only built 2 so far. Still learning but cool to build one exactly how you want it.

only rods I've broken except for one were shimanos and it wasn't user error. Dont use em anymore. Other one was a light skeleton that broke on a huge red. My fault because i shouldve out that rod down before jacking with those reds

all i fish is shimano an i the only ones i ever broke was stepped on love them i wont buy anything else an went buy two new ones from lc tackle last week they told me to just keep the recipt an the warrnty is still good

Damn, that sucks that you guys have had so much trouble with Shimano's. Shimano has been the only rods that I have bought because none have ever snapped on me (unless I did something careless, but not under normal fishing conditions), and because of their exchange policy. I'll stick with what has been working for me, until it quits working. Then I will see what else is out there.

Grabbing the rod with one hand half way up pole and one hand on handle to flip a fish in will snap the rod or put stress crack in it . Seen alot of folks do that trick. They then blame poles fault, but it is user error.

100$ to replace which model??? must be crucial and cumara. The new ones suck anyways. better off buying G loomis if all this is true. The new maroon cumaras are like casting a 2X4!!
