Shearwater
Jus got a 2012 shearwater x22 wondering if anyone knows if its good in ruff water gunna push it to its limit
|
That's some good looking boats!
|
No sell it.

KajunDave has the same boat. That thing is a beast! Not too bad in the rough stuff. Maybe not the best by far in rough waves but a really good boat for BL. I have the 25TE and love it. Everyone has there own opinion these days, to each his own I guess. Learn to work the trim tabs.

What can you compare it to? If you've been fishing in a 24triton Lts, than no it will feel like your riding in a dump truck! But if you've been riding in an 18ft flat boat then it will feel 100% better!
Just remember it is an over sized flats boat built on a pad and designed to get pretty skinny. In wich I may add its a good hull and plenty capable of running rough water given the operator knows what he or she's doing. Just be smart in your rough water voyages and the boat will take care of you! |
We have a 26' with twin yammys on it. Very nice boat. Owner held nothing back. Even has misters built in to the t top.

Just curious? |
If you can afford one and DONT NEED A COSIGNER to get a boat then your opinion counts....haters gonna hate!
|

Shearwater was making great boats at one point. Then for numerous reasons their quality control and customer service went down hill! It would be nice to see the company regain good standings, but when you start leaving bitter taste in people's mouths that invested good money in a product, well you know the rest!
I know of a dozen extremely happy Shearwater owners, and a dozen that would never buy another for good reasons! I'll leave it at this, there's numerous boats that will do or can what a SW is capable of, some more and some less expensive. That comes down to preference. If you can afford it and the product is worthy of the money spent then so be it! I bought an 08 in late 07 and its been worth every penny! Damn near flawless! I do know of others that were garbage. Just my $.02 |
Ive heard some stuff about electrical problems recently with shearwater. They are decent boats just not worth what they cost IMO.

Good luck with it! |
Congratulations on the boat, its just like anything else you buy, if it's a good one its GOOD, and a bad one is going to be trouble, got a friend that can't give one away, and one that will never have nothing but a new sw.
|
I have a 22 ft shearwater. Love it. It catches fish and it rides well. A hair rougher than some boats but I also pick my days like most fisherman so it suits me just fine. Not really interested in going fishing with a 15 mph wind. You will enjoy it. Don't listen to the haters on here!!! Great post INCH!

Nothing touches em But evidently a 22 shearwater will help u catch fish---- if I read correctly, sorry to say but I don't pick my days in my kenner??? Maybe in my 15ft aluminum |
I always liked them SW's, congrats on your new to you ride.

How much deadrise does a z2200 have?
I'm still looking for the right boat and a Z2200 is in my used boat radar. |
Why would you spend that much money on a boat and not wet test it? When I buy my next boat I'll be picking some crappy days to go wet test every single option I look at...then you will know what the hull is capable of and can go from there. Lots of options when buying a boat...you wouldn't buy a new vehicle and not test drive would you?
