V-bay This Weekend

Man, with the water getting right it's going to be hard to not make a trip out this weekend? Ill more than likely go on Sunday. Now just to decide if I want to go to the point or out of intracoastal.
Anyone else giving them a run this weekend?!?!

YellowMouth7 08-09-2013 12:31 PM

every one in a 100mile radius with anything that floats..............including me :-)

haoward 08-09-2013 12:38 PM

I wish I could but leaving for Gulf Shore for the week tom.

yigodiver 08-09-2013 12:42 PM

Things will be interesting in the bay tomorrow to say the least. If rains hold out I am going to give it a try let the 'ole boat' get out and stretch her legs, but the water must be very smooth with my boat.

Intracoastal will have less morons....the reefs south of redfish point and the wellheads and platforms around the ship channel have been producing trout if that's what your after.

That's what I'm thinking. I fished there last Friday and the gafftops were thick and so were the sharks. Picked up some small trout also. Maybe they grew in a week!

Montauk17 08-09-2013 12:59 PM

Throw plastic on a 3/8 oz head should have less dealings with them. For sure don't chunk a cork, gafftop usa.

Jcredeur 08-09-2013 01:05 PM

Ok! Ill have to try that. Towards the end of the day I started going for the sharks and playing around with catching them so I really can't complain about their numbers.
The platforms are the ones you can see southeast from 4 mile cut?

Dougie 08-09-2013 01:17 PM

Just spoke to someone at Burns Point that was there yesterday. Water was muddy. No fish being caught from bank. One boat came in with 3 fish. Last Sunday another contact went to Redfish point. Bay was muddy but clear water coming out of canals.

Yeah there is one pretty large compressor station that is the most productive but they all can produce trout.

Kool deal! Thank you. Last week I was just giving the area a try and could see them but by the way the wind and weather were kicking up I had to head in with the bass boat....

I've tried a few times there over the years and never caught ****, except maybe hardheads!

Jcredeur 08-10-2013 12:53 PM

I sure hope the weather hold out! Sure not sounding good out there right now!

I'm headed out in a couple hours. Just scattered storms. Your typical summer pattern. May have to dodge left, dodge right! LOL

Jcredeur 08-10-2013 07:42 PM

Looks like I'm going to make a run in the morning! Aiming for around redfish point.
Got a variety tied on... Hope to find something hungry!

Dink 08-10-2013 09:06 PM

Good luck man!

Jcredeur 08-10-2013 09:43 PM

Thank ya!

Launched at Maxie Peirce's this morn. Ran to the moth of 4 mile cut to find storm clouds near redfish point. Since that's where I wanted to head I decided to hang back and fish the mouth on the spoil bank side. Hooked into several good reds but only boated one due to break offs. Boated two nice gaff tops also.
The wind was on a steady increase and we pushed it till it was just too rough for the bass boat.
We ran in and fished a few cuts along the intracoastal but didn't have any luck.... Water wasn't green but I didn't feel like I was fishing in a yoo-hoo bottle either. All the shrimpers were headed out today. It was a parade out of 4 mile.

Hope we can sneak up on some nice weather soon! Attachment 54407

not bad, we went out of the pt. Went to dry reef and fished for about 30 mins then dodged storms till after 9. Gave up on the bay and tried for reds. Don't know what the deal was. Ended up with one red, and 10 flounder.

YellowMouth7 08-12-2013 08:50 AM

Stayed inside
caught 5 trout with one decent one a lil over 3lbs, lost several "BIG" fish on top......strange bite but the big girls were there

TB

Man, all I caught inside was dinks!

YellowMouth7 08-12-2013 11:31 AM

I know Jeff and I am sorry, but you have to admit that we had some huge blowups

Thanks again for your help and patients.......rough morning for this guy.....comedy of errors for sure

MattMigues 08-12-2013 11:37 AM

We ran yesterday to Tbutte, caught 4 keeper trout and 10 reds, got soaked... fished few well heads on way in with live croaker and hammered the hardheads! trout bite was tough for us but redfish were on!

DuckSlayer22 08-12-2013 02:39 PM

We stayed in due to the weather. Caught 1 red and 1 speck and a bunch of rain...

Goooh 08-12-2013 03:39 PM

I went out at about 1030, back to the launch at 1315. Caught some croaker, ran from rain, lost my glasses at dry reef(tried to smack a deer fly off my face and they went flying), trolling motor came on wide open and chewed up my gunnel (didnt tuck the handle extension and the leverage from waves spun it into gear), launch buddy yanked me out of the water at about 36mph with the boat crooked and still running....

That "bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work" is bull shhhhhh...

Flounder are what saved the trip for us. Nothing to complain about with these in the box.

Jcredeur 08-12-2013 04:07 PM

With the waves out there I had my bilge working! Anchored outside the mouth of 4mile. With all my anchor line out(about 75ft) every 5th wave or so was coming over the bow.... But we were picking at some good sized reds so it was worth it!

Sat 10th- Ran the beach from FW City to Constance lake. Very, very muddy, no clean water in sight. Fishing around this area has been poor lately.

Widgeon6 08-13-2013 10:35 PM

Monday morn

Fished Monday morn 630-12 had to get back to town. Kept 5 trout 1 red 2 flounder. Caught bout 10 trout total half throwbacks. We met up with a boat trolling and both of us stopped 3 casts lengths away he started to hammer them and we couldn't reach the school from where we were. Instead of doing like most vbay fisherman would do and get right next to him we just moved along. I hate when people do it to me so I don't do it. If he continued rate I saw he had to have got close to a limit.
