Its a rub rail to protect the tumblehome transom from bumping against docks. I found this out with mine while launching at the burned out bridge :(

Hydro 08-17-2013 05:18 PM

Love the colors!! The Kenner boys build a sweet boat. More pics plz!!

Ducktrickster 08-18-2013 07:10 AM

The boat came out a lot beter than I thought. I'll get some better picks when I pick it up. Only boats worth potlickin' are black.

Great looking sled....old school color.

BaseballFisherman 08-18-2013 09:57 PM

First thing I'd do if I were you is take the transom tie downs off before you pull it anywhere. That's the place that I got my first scuff marks when I bought mine. Might save you some tears before the first time you take it out lol. Mine is black so I noticed the rub marks right away. I don't use the transom tie downs at all anymore

So you are getting rubbing even off the sport trail trailer with the extended rack built on the back for the spring loaded return straps?

SuperDave 08-19-2013 08:17 AM

SICK!

I make oil 08-19-2013 10:13 AM

I haven't trailered the boat on the sport trail yet. I won't be back in town until next month to check it out. But yes, it's going to rub even on the sport trail. Not as bad as other trailers, but its still going to rub. It's just the nature of the BlackJack hull. It's a tough hull to design a perfect trailer for. The transom hook extensions on my sport trail are actually longer than the normal extensions that Kevin puts on his BlackJack trailer, and the straps still touch the gel coat. In order to make the straps not touch the hull at all, the extensions would have to be made so long that they would lose strength and be impractically long. In the past when I have had to trailer the boat on the interstate, I just wedged microfiber towels between the straps and the gelcoat to prevent scuffing. For local trips, I don't use the transom straps at all.

By the way, if you look at the photos that Ducktrickster put up of his rig, you can see how the straps still sit flush against the gelcoat. Here are a couple pictures of the extensions on my trailer, which Kevin told me are a couple inches longer than what he usually puts. The straps will still rub....
