E - cigarette . . .

My nasty habit has begun to give me signs that I need to modify my lifestyle . . . Any experience and advice about the E-cigarette that you can share would be appreciated . . . Thanks

I have a friend that went straight to them from decades of smoking and they seem to fix her cravings. Now you still end up with the effects of nicotine but at least your not getting the tar and stuff. Obviously quoting is the right answer but e cigs are a good answer in my book. I mean if your gonna do one or the other, that is certainly the lesser of two evils.

E - cigarette . . .

I'm working on quitting myself. I have tried e cig before but IMO it may also be just as bad for you as well. I don't think they have been out long enough to have any research behind them. Still make me nervous. You never know. They could be terrible for you. I have been using Skoal Snus to deal with my cravings. It seems like the healthiest option, although of course nothing is healthier than giving it all up completely. It is pouches and doesn't make you spit either. I find that chewing on toothpicks helps as well.

I quit years ago on the drug chantix. Took it for two weeks and had every side effect, but was able to quit and never looked back.
That was about 10 years ago.
I had tried many times to quit before but never quit for long. Good luck cuz it aint easy, but you have got to quit before it gets ya.

I just purchase the vapor (thing) I can't remember the name, but its 20 bucks plus 5 bucks for the liquid that last about a carton of smokes. Works great!

jchief 08-20-2013 08:39 PM

You can do it Tim. Just gotta get your mind right. Peppermints and Nicorette helped me. Used Nicorette for a week then nothing but peppermints.

I went to a group hypnotizing to quit dipping 4 years ago. It was for smokers but worked for dipping too. My dad was a 3 pack a day smoker and went to one of these 19 years ago and hasn't had a smoke since.

adamsfence 08-21-2013 12:18 AM

Im quitting right now again. ....I had it whipped went 3 weeks without one bought one of the e cigs and forgot it next day that was it I started bumming. That was 2 weeks ago. Today I made my mind up to quit again. This is hard if I could just find something to do the boredom driving is the worst. 1hr drive home at 4 in the morning

Been fighting it for a month now. Ive used mostly the patches. Using the ecig just makes me want a real cig worse. The patches, gum, sunflowerseeds have helped alot

I'm trying cold turkey right now and it's pretty annoying but giving it hell. I have heard the lozenges work really well.

BassAssasin 08-21-2013 07:38 AM

Good luck! Did cold turkey for a week once and my wife made me start again bc I was such a pain in the *** haha

PReaux 08-21-2013 10:54 AM

If you are researching about the E-Cig, a friend of mine started a company here in Lafayette making the product, have not tried it but he says its cheaper and better ingredients made local. I know he has a facebook page, the company name is "Dirty South Vapes"

bambam075 08-21-2013 11:51 AM

Bought me a e cig 4 weeks ago used it until it ran out. Havent smoked a cigerette since. I was smoking a pack a day . They are getting to expensive. I tried to smoke a cig about a week ago and put it out after two puffs. It was horrible. Still have carvings. The true test will be when i have a feww drinks with friends . I will just have to wait and see. Good luck

They do.

I don't really think the e-cigarettes are a good thing. To me you are only trading one habit for another. My f-i-l's buddy likes to say he hasn't smoked a cigarette since March, but the amount of the liquid/vapor he sucks out of the e-cig is like smoking five packs a day.

Plus, my wife went to a smoking cessation seminar and they said that one of the ingredients in the liquid is basically antifreeze.

That's what I figured. They had to be bad for you somehow. At first I thought it wasn't but after seeing a few commercials for them and noticing how they don't say anything about them being better for you, they just talk about how they won't bother people because it's vapor not smoke. You know if they were healthier than cigs they would advertise that.

Got a 2 for 1 ecig with charger and case, "cowboy" flavor nicotine, etc., fo $82 . . . So far after 4 hrs I haven't had too many problems . . . What do you do with ur hands? . . . Behaviour modification is a strange area of mental science . . . It is not the same for everyone . . . An individual decision/action must be established . . . The plan takes precedence . . . Eat boogers . . .

I had an instructor years ago for a HAZWOPER course and he said that a McDonald's straw is the same size as a cigarette. He said some folks occupy themselves by chewing on those. He also had a chain, similar to one you'd find on a dog tag, that he would toss around in his hands to keep them busy.

My grandma said she took up knitting, so that's always an option.
