Sulphur homecoming = A night to remember.
Well its that time... last Christmas we found out that my wife's softball # was going to be retired at Sulphur's homecoming game this Nov 8th. I can tell my wife is anxious... its been a while since she has been around a crowd of this magnitude. The retirement should begin around halftime. I am soo proud of her. If there is a dry eye in the stands i would be shocked. She truly is a blessing. Coach Julie Mancuso and a few others will share their stories, as well as someone from my family reading my wifes speech at the end. I heard KPLC will cover the event, but i am not 100% sure. I am getting a little nervous just typing this... lol. Come out and support the TORS, the Seniors, and my wife! I am sure it will be a night to remember.
:fireworks::birthday: Here is the previous thread to get you up to speed! |

We so need a "LIKE" button! LOL |
There is no magic to my methods.. some days i want to throw in the towel. Whether its GOD or just my love for this woman or just my stubborn hardheaded persistant azz or all of the above.... something says "Just Show Up! and everything will be ok" soo thats what i do.
Let me clarify.... ITS DEFINATELY GOD AND NO OTHER WHO DOES THIS. There are far better men and husbands than I. You definately could learn what NOT to do from me LOL. |
I've met them both personally and I can say they are both incredible individuals. His wife is one strong individual and SaltE, will always have my upmost respect. Best wishes on the special night!!!
|
Freakin awesome!

God Bless! |
Y'all will do great. Have an awesome evening
|
They had a nice little write up in today's American Press. Supposedly Lady Tor alumni from 1970 to 2013 have called in and said they were going to come to the game and all purchased shirts for the event.
|
Yep.... I know a few Lady Tor's that will be there tonight....as I will too.

Rodrick Anderson Posted Nov. 8, 2013 @ 10:00 am Sulphur, La. Nearly 12 years after she led the Sulphur Lady Tors to a championship, Amber Koonce Myers will have her jersey retired on Friday. The event will be a pregame ceremony at Matt Walker Memorial Stadium. Myers, who has ALS (Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's Disease) will be honored shortly before the Tor football team takes the field to face Comeaux for Senior Night at 7 p.m. She was a two-time all-state and all-district award winner for the Lady Tors. Myers was just a sophomore when she pitched the Lady Tors to a win over District 3-5A rival Comeaux in the 2001 5A state championship game in the first year the Fast Pitch 56 was hosted in Sulphur. She graduated from Sulphur High in 2003 but just five years later she was diagnosed with ALS. ALS, which affects between one and two people in 100,000, is a motor neurone disease that causes rapidly increasing muscular weakness, along with difficulties speaking, swallowing and breathing. Myers is married to Eddie Myers and has a four-year old son named Owen. Fellow 2003 Sulphur High graduate Lauren Bowman will be on hand Friday to represent Team Gleason, a foundation run by former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason who was diagnosed with ALS in 2011. As I said Eddie, wish I could be there! Just take your time and work hard at making her speech sound as she has written it. This will be an emotional night for all involved and I will be sending prayers to all of you. Make SC proud and represent!

The White hat ref walked up to amber.... gave her his coin and said "Sweetie I have been using this coin for 26 years... I would love for you to have it" ... This beautiful man wept as he gave it to her. I was speechless.
