My buddy Dave was suppose to make a hunt with me in the morning. Looks like he has to find another gun first from the text he just sent me. This is the third xtrema I know of that this happened to. I was looking to buy a used one but I think my mind is made up I'm going with a sbe2 instead. He's damn lucky to still have a left hand

Get the mud out of the barrel ....Can not see any other way for a gun to blow up like that with out something blocking the end ??

Damn! That could have been bad.

Mud will not make a barrel fail that far down, but I can promise from expierence a stuck wad from a partial burning shell will!!!

I was very lucky yesterday. Guys were shooting at some ducks and I heard the gun poof and started screaming to stop. Guy got a wad stuck in it about a foot up the barrel, he was shooting some Xpert shells. Had to take a rozo and jam down the barrel to get it out.
|
Damn, that's a tough break. Can he get a new barrel for it?

Why say you'll never buy a Beretta and then say this? How in any way, shape or form was this the guns fault? |

last year we had several (4 or 5)estate shells have the brass break off the plastic hull and lodge in the barrel. Not far enough for another shell to get loaded but a pain to get the plastic out of the barrel. A rozo wouldn't knock them out.

Another blown beretta

I'm gonna be honest and I love my Benellis. I have M1, SBE, SBE II, and Super Vinci. But you gotta keep em clean at least every few hunts or you may run into problems with hang ups and jams being they are inertia operated. I would say a Beretta is more low maintenance due to gas operation. But they are very reliable if you keep them clean. |

Not cleaning your gun is asking for trouble.

Nah man. Sorry. I got a good little collection going. Gonna keep em. |

I do about the same. But about every 2 weeks or so I will break it down and give it a good cleaning. That marsh is a lot rougher on em than rice fields. I can tell when it needs it. Starts cycling a little slower. Super Vinci hung up on me once Saturday morning. I haven't cleaned it in a while. |
man I have literally put 10 of thousands of rounds through my Beretta's with no problems.......
No gun it going to clear a stuck wad.....no gun....... Happy your buddy is okay.... |

My SBE I was a jam master! Guaranteed to jam after a fresh cleaning, more lube, less it didn't matter. Shoot a box through it and it was good for about a case of shells then it needed another cleaning! On the other hand my SBE II and Super Vinci get a barrel swab about every 2 boxes and sum deep creep in the receiver after every hunt with a good whipe down! We hunt Venice marshes and mud flats ! I wear waters strictly because of my dogs, and the filth they bring in the boat. It's the only way to stay half azs clean. I wish my guns could wear waters cause after a mornings hunt some woud say I'm crazy for hunting with a $1500 gun in those situations, but its what gets the job done for me! I still have browning's and got rid of my berettas . They just didn't fit rite and needed more maint. To stay operating. Still very good guns though! Benelli keeps getting my coin$$$, not to mention there customer service is pretty damn good! They replace a butt and comb pad on my 5 yr old sbe II on my word that they were worn out! To each his own though.

I've been having my BPS for almost 15 years and have NEVER had any issues with it. It's time for me to get a new shotgun, I'll most likely be getting another BPS. |
Wow! he and his blindmates are lucky:eek:
Cut that there barrel into little pieces and keep them their pieces in the blind and chunk em out to show them their rock dogs where them ducks is:grinpimp: |

I have a maxus and it is a good gun. Not great. I have to clean it with a non-teflon based oil so it doesn't jam....I have already had to send it back to the factory once. They did fix it and send back within two weeks, so that is good. I don't like to baby my guns though. As a matter of fact I prefer to mistreat them. In my experience a Maxus is nothing special.
|
yea but look how much it costs, it has to be the best thing ever. ah dont worry about the barrel, those are only for making the bb's go in one direction and thats no use since DU tames all the ducks and forces the weirs open to kill all the grass the grass.
